The ninth day of the journey to the Johto Region, sunny.

Yu Hai flew over the sea of trees all night. Unsure whether Team Rocket would pursue him, he released Fearow, who had rested enough, and continued toward Lake of Life.

He had flown past Cherrygrove City last night and was now heading toward Violet City. Violet City was an ancient city with a Flying-type Gym, a Trainer School, and a resting place for Pokémon, much like Lavender Town's Pokémon cemetery.

But he would not enter the city. Once he entered a city, there was a chance he would be spotted. He did not dare gamble on those odds and could only rest in the wilderness.

Pelipper and Fearow took turns resting while he did not rest at all, continuing to fly straight toward Lake of Life. He intended to reach Lake of Life in one go.

Next, he would pass through Ecruteak City. There was a Ghost-type Gym there, and the city's history was just as ancient. It also had a Pokémon cemetery and many Ghost-type Pokémon, since the Ghost-type Gym was located there.

Bell Tower, where Ho-Oh had once roosted, was here as well. There was also Burned Tower, once Lugia's habitat. After the tower burned down, Lugia moved to the Whirl Islands. Burned Tower was also where Ho-Oh's three Legendary Beasts had been born.

He would pass by Ecruteak City without entering it, heading directly for the primordial forest northwest of the city. Lake of Life lay within that great forest.

From Silver Mountain Range to Lake of Life, from southeast to northwest, he rode two Flying-type Pokémon across the entire Johto Region. After two days and one night of continuous flight, he finally reached Lake of Life. From the air, he could see its silvery waters
