"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
Explosions rang out across northern Xinjiang, across the great desert, across the Hexi Corridor, beneath the Qilian Mountains, across the Loess Plateau, and through the Qin Mountains and the mountains of Shu.
"Wei River water section blasting successful!"
"Pei River water section blasting successful!"
"Min River water section blasting successful!"
"Yalong River water section blasting successful!"
"Weiyuan River water section blasting successful!"
"Yuqu River water section blasting successful!"
The Grand Canal had wound around the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, then followed the lay of the land, passing through countless rivers and tributaries along the way.
Lu Zheng had already deepened and widened the stretches between the water diversion entrances and exits of those rivers, preventing excessive currents from bursting through the riverbanks.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The explosions stretched all the way southwest, echoing through the Hengduan Mountains before finally reaching the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
"Boom!"
With a deafening blast, the mountainside shattered!
The river water that had been racing through the great canyon suddenly gained an outlet. It immediately split apart and surged forth.
"Rumble—"
The swiftly rushing waters in the canyon slammed against the newly divided rock walls, throwing up clusters of spray and churning out clouds of mist.
It was magnificent, enough to shake the heart.
The livestream swiftly switched feeds. The viewers before their screens saw not only the Yarlung Tsangpo River splitting apart, but also the Nu River surging out and the Lancang River branching into separate channels.
An artificially excavated Grand Canal had been linked into a single line above the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, between the Hengduan Mountains, below the Qin Mountains and Qilian Mountains, and south of the Taklamakan Desert.
"Holy shit!"
"The water's flowing! The water's flowing!"
"This is incredible!"
