Background / History
Lu Zheng grew up in Qin Province in a financially secure household. His father, Lu Hui, was an attending physician and his mother, Gu Ling, was a middle-school music teacher. He inherited their easygoing temperament; by his own family’s assessment, he was not inclined to compete or chase ambition. 5 117
After entering the Great Jing Dynasty, Lu Zheng initially claimed to be a scholar and bought local Confucian classics to support the disguise. He abandoned that identity after deciding that examinations and officialdom would take too much time away from his freedom. 14
He instead pursued martial arts and cultivation. Modern instructional videos and the Light of Luck allowed him to master basic swordsmanship at extraordinary speed, while Shen Ying recognized his martial aptitude and gave him the Mountain Carrying Eighteen Forms. He soon cultivated both Martial Blood Qi and Daoist True Qi, leading Daoist Priest Mingzhang to accept him into White Cloud Temple as a lay disciple. 14 29 33
Lu Zheng’s early experiences in Tonglin County established him as a protector of the Liu family. He defeated grave robbers threatening their home, let them leave to avoid drawing retaliation to the family, then secretly tracked and eliminated them after they plotted revenge. 41 42
As his cultivation expanded, he combined Daoist arts, Martial Path methods, Sword Qi, water techniques, thunder methods, mental arts, and body refinement. His rapid gains and broad mastery eventually led senior cultivators to speculate that he might be a True Spirit descended from the Upper Realm. 827 1416
Appearance
Lu Zheng is a tall, fair-skinned young man with delicate features and a well-built physique. He is described as about 1.8 meters tall. 44
- Fair complexion and refined facial features. 44
- Muscular, athletic body shaped by Martial Path cultivation. 30 372
- Can comfortably wear 40 kg Fish Scale Chainmail while carrying a 25 kg spear. 372
- His armored appearance has been compared to an ancient general, especially when equipped with a Phoenix Wing Helmet, lion-faced armor, and the Bright Silver Coiling Dragon Spear. 612
Personality
Lu Zheng began as someone who preferred comfort, leisure, and a peaceful life over status or ambition. Even after gaining extraordinary power, he stated that he did not want to become a hero and preferred to adapt to circumstances rather than seek unnecessary trouble. 5 54
He is generally calm, sociable, and self-assured. He often presents himself as modest, but enjoys playful boasting when his abilities impress others. He also dislikes being forced into restrictive commitments, which is why he remains an outer sect layman rather than becoming a formal monastic disciple. 31 619
Despite his relaxed attitude, Lu Zheng is decisive when others threaten people under his protection. He can be calculating and ruthless against enemies, using tracking, ambushes, illusions, and overwhelming force rather than leaving dangers unresolved. 41 42 266
He is also notably generous with friends, disciples, and family. He shares cultivation methods, gives protective treasures, cooks for guests, and regularly helps Liu Qingyan at Renxin Hall. 117 219 491
