Identity and Objectives
- Spirit Pavilion is Bai Hao’s organization, known to outsiders as the Black-Clad Organization. Its members are unaware that others have begun calling it the Salvation Organization 126.
- Its stated ambition is to bring the dead back to life and overturn destiny, a declaration that initially makes Black Zetsu wonder whether it shares his goal of resurrecting Kaguya 60.
- The group rejects Akatsuki’s proposal to cooperate in starting a war and ruling the world. Bai Hao subsequently assigns operations against Akatsuki and Jashinism, using the missions to give his members experience 125 126.
- Its protective actions do not make its motives transparent: members deliberately wait for Black Zetsu while the Ninja Alliance suffers casualties, relying on Rin’s time reversal to undo the losses if necessary 320.
Members and Leadership

History
Early Activity and Konoha Intervention
Bai Hao equips Karin with distinctive black mission clothing and a chakra-operated communication ring. By the Chūnin Exams, Karin’s strength has persuaded Sasuke to seek membership as a way to gain power without killing Naruto. Konoha’s leadership suspects that the group is interested in Sasuke and possesses secrets unknown to the village 2 14.
Karin and Izumi later appear during the confrontation with Itachi and Kisame. The organization helps Konoha’s ninja escape, although Hiruzen remains uncertain about its intentions. Reports that Izumi and Kushina have been resurrected establish that the group’s powers extend beyond ordinary combat enhancement 55 56 60.
Pakura’s Revenge and Worldwide Notoriety
Pakura returns as an enhanced Jinchūriki and takes revenge on Sunagakure for its betrayal. Her destruction of the village makes the organization infamous throughout the ninja world, prompting ninja and spies from other villages to investigate it 80 81.
Obito concludes that the group can make people stronger almost instantly. Meanwhile, learning of its resurrection abilities gives Tsunade hope that it might restore Nawaki and Dan 80 81.
Conflict with Akatsuki
Akatsuki makes locating the organization’s secret base a priority and warns its members against initiating combat. An attempted cooperation proposal fails when Rin and Ringo reject Akatsuki’s stated ambitions of war and world domination 115 122 125.
The conflict expands into an intelligence campaign. Ringo distributes flyers in Konoha and Amegakure revealing Madara’s role, Obito’s succession, and the plan to gather the Tailed Beasts, revive the Ten-Tails, and activate Infinite Tsukuyomi. Black Zetsu is especially disturbed that the organization knows his true goal but does not publish it 141 143 144.
New Threats and the Search for the Leader
Amado exposes a Shell Organization stronghold to draw the group’s attention. Rin and Ringo investigate it, and Bai Hao orders Spirit Pavilion to investigate the organization as a potential threat 188 189.
Black Zetsu subsequently allies with Ōtsutsuki Isshiki against the Black-Clad Organization. Rather than defeat its members directly, they devise a plan to send them away. Finding the leader becomes essential to this operation 219 231 251.
Shion and the Hidden Strongholds
Shion expresses interest in joining, but Karin declines because it is not their “fated time.” Karin and Izumi nevertheless take her to a hidden stronghold to meet the Holy Lord, where she discovers that Bai Hao leads the organization 262 264 266.
Madara tracks the pair to one stronghold but loses their trail. Unable to locate the headquarters, he instead plans to capture the organization’s artificial Jinchūriki in Amegakure and extract information 266.
Intervention in the War
During Akatsuki’s invasion, the group remains concealed while waiting for Black Zetsu. When he does not appear, Rin returns to the moment before the large-scale attack, allowing the organization to intervene with foreknowledge 320.
Six members coordinate their assault, kill Hidan and Kakuzu, and eliminate White Zetsu observers underground. Their willingness to overwhelm weaker opponents together overturns Akatsuki’s assumption that powerful ninja would insist on fighting individually. Pakura then orders pursuit of the retreating enemy 321 323.
A later joint Tailed Beast Ball attack is interrupted when Obito evacuates the endangered Akatsuki members through spatial ninjutsu. The organization concludes its operation and reports to the Holy Lord 331.
Withdrawal and Continued Operations
The organization again ambushes Akatsuki during the renewed war. Madara and Black Zetsu prioritize removing Bai Hao, considering him its most dangerous member 358 359.
Following Bai Hao’s final instructions, Pakura withdraws the Spirit Pavilion members from the battlefield. They are to observe events, record intelligence, and intervene only when the conditions he specified occur. Akatsuki interprets their disappearance as a success 361.
Abilities and Operational Methods
Resurrection
Bai Hao’s organization can restore deceased people, including Izumi and Kushina 60.
- Madara observes that its resurrection method appears to lack the self-sacrifice required by the revival techniques familiar to him 270.
- Its abilities attract people seeking lost loved ones, notably Tsunade 81.
- Hiruzen’s survival and extended life become further evidence of the group’s unusual assistance to Konoha 196 197.
Artificial Tailed Beasts and Empowerment
The organization creates artificial Tailed Beasts and grants their power to members 185 266 275.
- Black Zetsu assesses it as capable of directly cultivating Super Kage-level ninja 60.
- Pakura’s transformation demonstrates a dramatic increase in strength 78 80.
- Madara judges its artificial Tailed Beasts to be no weaker than the Nine-Tails 270.
- Reports presented to the Five Kage state that the group can perfectly control Tailed Beasts 185.
Time Travel
Rin’s Time Travel allows the organization to revisit earlier events and change their outcome 125 320.
- Only Rin retains memories of the reversed events; Ringo must be told what happened afterward 125.
- The group uses this ability to delay intervention while searching for Black Zetsu without accepting the battlefield losses as permanent 320.
- Akatsuki considers time reversal one of the principal obstacles to defeating the organization 231.
Mobility, Concealment, and Intelligence
- Teleportation arrays connect hidden strongholds; one is concealed within a mountain with no visible entrance 264.
- Flying Thunder God and Wood Release allow Izumi and Karin to escape Deidara’s bombs 262.
- Stealthy observation lets Karin and Izumi approach an active confrontation without being noticed beforehand 55.
- Secret knowledge enables the group to expose Akatsuki’s leadership and long-term plans through widely distributed flyers 141 143.
- During pursuit operations, Itachi suspects the visible members are combat-capable Wood Release clones while their main bodies move underground 326.
Coordinated Combat
- Members commonly operate in pairs 224.
- Large operations use concentrated team attacks rather than individual duels, including the six-member assault on Hidan and Kakuzu 321 323.
- Pakura can destroy concealed White Zetsu observers through the earth, cutting off enemy intelligence 321.
- The group can prepare a joint Tailed Beast Ball attack against multiple Akatsuki members 331.
Uniform and Equipment
- Black mission clothing — Karin receives a sleeveless mini-dress, leggings, two leg-mounted ninja tool pouches, a cloak, and a conical hat 2.
- “X” emblem — the cloak’s large marking matches Karin’s arm tattoo; both emit different colors under light, described as “Colorful Black” 2.
- Communication rings — chakra-operated devices; Karin’s ring has a silver band made from an unidentified material 2.
- Face-concealing hats — Rin and Ringo’s hats prevent Obito from seeing their faces during an encounter 234.
- Special Flying Thunder God kunai — Tsunade uses one to try to contact Bai Hao; after Madara takes it, Bai Hao provides a replacement 319 337.
Relationships
- Konohagakure — receives unusually favorable treatment: the organization protects Sasuke from Orochimaru’s Curse Mark, saves Hiruzen, and supplies medicine for Itachi 196 197.
- Tsunade — seeks its resurrection abilities and later relies on Bai Hao as emergency support against Akatsuki 81 319 337.
- Akatsuki — rival organization whose cooperation proposal is rejected, secrets are exposed, and members become targets of coordinated attacks 125 141 323.
- Black Zetsu — a priority target whose hidden knowledge is already known to the group; he repeatedly changes his theories about the leader’s identity and seeks to remove the organization 143 144 275 331.
- Ōtsutsuki Isshiki — allies with Black Zetsu against it and fears its leader’s resurrection and artificial Tailed Beast abilities 219 332.
- Orochimaru — covets its technology and tries unsuccessfully to obtain information through Guren; access to its secrets helps lure him back into Akatsuki 62 189 190.
- Uchiha Itachi — increasingly regards the group as a possible protector of Konoha and the world; eventually confirms Bai Hao’s leadership during their conversation 318 341.
- Ninja Alliance — initially formed to eliminate both Akatsuki and the Black-Clad Organization, but later depends on the latter’s intervention to survive 241 319 320.
Notable Quote
“We are both angels and demons, because we want to reverse the tide of fate, bring the dead back to life, and overturn destiny!”
— The organization’s declaration, repeated by White Zetsu 60
Naming Distinction
- In the Conan world, Black Organization also refers to the separate syndicate associated with Gin and Vodka. Gin explicitly identifies the similarly dressed operatives as people with no connection to his organization 831 835.
- Bai Hao plans a Spirit Pavilion outer organization for that world, using inexpensive Bronze Cards to empower recruits and deliberately create confusion with the local Black Organization 795.
