Background / History

Vivi is the princess of the Alabasta Kingdom. Before receiving her new powers, she operated undercover within Baroque Works as Ms. Wednesday; her former allies later identify her as the organization's former executive commander. 414 494

During an avalanche, Vivi remains composed after Usopp loses consciousness and immediately recognizes Bai Hao as a possible Devil Fruit user. Though suspicious that he knows her royal identity and may lead a dangerous organization, she considers his offer because its promised power could save Alabasta from Crocodile and bring rain to the desert kingdom. 409 410

Bai Hao explains that the Spirit Pavilion seeks revolution without replacing old rulers, after which its members would return to ordinary life. Vivi accepts this vision, signs a soul contract, takes the codename Cactus, and receives Lugia as her spirit partner. 411

Appearance

Vivi's ordinary appearance is not described in the available material. Her Lugia-powered transformation gives her an angelic, winged form. 441

  • A pair of exceptionally large, snow-white wings manifests from her back. 441
  • The wings carry a faint golden glow. 441
  • Her Spirit Pavilion contract creates an X-shaped tattoo on her lower back. 411

Personality

Vivi is analytical and cautious, particularly when powerful strangers or organizations are involved. She questions Bai Hao's motives, considers the consequences of surrendering her soul, and deduces that the Spirit Pavilion's stated ambitions include improving Alabasta. 409 410

Her decisions are consistently guided by responsibility toward Alabasta and its people. She is willing to confront Crocodile, negotiate with the Rebel Army, and place herself in danger to stop the civil war while also protecting the Straw Hats under Bai Hao's assignment. 424 463 516

Despite her increased strength, Vivi remains compassionate. She cannot bring herself to kill Robin even while believing Robin murdered Igaram, instead choosing to incapacitate and imprison her. 496

Vivi also has a strong desire for adventure. After Alabasta is stabilized, she struggles between royal duty and traveling with the Straw Hats, ultimately choosing to adventure with Kenran while trusting Bai Hao's assurance that her country will remain safe. 525 526 537
