They then began the painstaking dismantling work. After all, many of the materials used to set up the barriers could be reused. Once they were removed, they could be used again in the next ritual, saving Hyuga Kagami a considerable expense.
Hyuga Kagami himself did not take part in the dismantling. Instead, he stood quietly atop the altar, his gaze constantly sweeping over the surroundings.
Through this ritual, he found that the arrangement of his ritual had been fairly sound. No flaws had appeared during either the first or second stages.
Only the third stage had encountered a minor mishap.
He had clearly underestimated the force he would wield after opening the Gate of Death. The altar had not been built sturdily enough, and when he opened the Gate of Death during the third stage, the central section of the altar instantly collapsed. Cracks spread across the entire structure, leaving it on the verge of collapse.
Because Hyuga Kagami had forcibly halted the ritual during the third stage, the damage to the altar had not affected him. But he could imagine that if he had entered the fourth stage to assault the Kekkei Mōra, the altar's damage would have had an enormous impact on the ritual.
This absolutely could not be overlooked. Otherwise, his next ritual might very well fail over such seemingly insignificant details.
"The ritual site can no longer be somewhere like this..."
