Walking across a wasteland, Hyuga Kagami's expression was exceedingly grave.
As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but an endless Gobi Desert. Not a hint of green was visible anywhere, and the desolate, yellow-brown ground was even riddled with cracked fissures.
"How strange..."
Hyuga Kagami murmured softly.
Logically, this was still within the Land of Fire and not particularly far from the sea. The climate should not have been this extremely dry, as though he were deep within the deserts of the Land of Wind. This clearly defied common sense.
"This abnormal environment must be connected to the Giant Pit ahead!"
His figure flashed, and Hyuga Kagami quickened his pace.
Before long, he arrived outside the village known as the "Giant Pit," his destination for this journey.
The Giant Pit truly lived up to its name. From the cliff wall around its perimeter, one could clearly see that it was actually an enormous, perfectly circular depression that plunged hundreds of meters underground.
The environment inside the Giant Pit was completely different from that outside.
The entire pit was lush and green. Even from afar, one could feel the vigorous vitality within it. There was even a shimmering lake inside.
"Just as I thought!" After a pause, Hyuga Kagami sniffed the air again and remarked, "Even the air is fragrant..."
Having seen the Giant Pit with his own eyes, he could be certain that something within it was drawing energy from the nearby earth veins and gathering all the surrounding vitality into the pit.
That was why the area for dozens of li around the Giant Pit was barren Gobi, as desolate as the deserts of the Land of Wind, while inside the pit, life flourished. The grass was lush, and even the air was moist and fragrant.
