After hearing Gaara's words, Karin immediately became agitated. "Gaara, who are you calling stupid? You're the big idiot!"

Earlier, Hyuga Kagami had told her to go back and think it over carefully. But in the entire Aerial Fortress, aside from Hyuga Kagami and the Third Kazekage Human Puppet, Gaara was the only person she could talk to, so she had brought the matter up with him.

She simply had not expected Gaara to criticize her for being stupid in front of Hyuga Kagami today, leaving her both angry and hurt.

Gaara's face reddened. "I... I'm only stating the facts. Such an important mission would be safer in my hands. You're a girl, so... so don't make trouble."

Karin pouted. "You're looking down on me!"

"I'm not... not looking down on you." After a pause, Gaara stammered, "It's just that this sort of thing isn't suitable for you. If someone has to give their life for my lord, then I should be the first!"

Watching the two children bicker, Hyuga Kagami smiled softly.

Clearly, Gaara was not looking down on Karin. He had simply learned that Karin had received the Rinnegan and taken on Hyuga Kagami's "Revival Plan," which put her life at risk. So, he wanted to snatch the task from her and take that danger upon himself.

Both Gaara and Karin had childhoods filled with darkness and pain.

These two children, lacking love and security, had long since come to see each other as their most precious family and companions after Hyuga Kagami brought them back to the Aerial Fortress.

Gaara would never oppose any of Hyuga Kagami's decisions, but that did not stop him from protecting Karin in his own way.
