Clearly, Rin thought Hyuga Kagami refused to move to the clan compound because he was worried about losing face.
In the past, she would never have said something like that to Hyuga Kagami. She knew that men sometimes valued their pride even more than their lives. Besides, Hyuga Kagami was now the Hokage. His reputation represented not only himself, but also the Hyuga Clan and all of Konoha.
But after attending the village's secret high-level meeting today, she had realized that the Uchiha Clan's rebellion was imminent. That was why she had spoken without thinking.
After the words left her mouth, she looked timidly at Hyuga Kagami, afraid that he would be angry.
Hyuga Kagami merely smiled gently. "Since you're so worried, we'll do as you say."
Rin hurriedly asked, "Really?!"
She knew that although Hyuga Kagami appeared easygoing, he was actually the kind of person who, once he set his mind on something, would press ahead without ever backing down. Her heart was filled with delight.
Hyuga Kagami nodded lightly.
After giving it some more thought, he realized that moving to the clan compound would indeed make things more convenient.
Just then, the sound of people climbing the stairs came from the hallway, and it sounded like there was more than one.
Hearing the visitors make no effort to conceal their footsteps, Rin did not think much of it. She simply looked at Hyuga Kagami in confusion. "Kagami, it's so late. Why are there still guests coming over?"
Hyuga Kagami casually replied, "Mm, they're a few subordinates reporting on their work progress."
