A thin mist drifted overhead. From a bird's-eye view, the outer walls of the Church of Redemption were already badly dilapidated, with large sections of stone having fallen away. A faint golden mist wafted from above the church. It was a skull, embedded at the very top of the church.
The Church of Redemption's massive metal doors opened, and wisps of cold air drifted through the gap. Before long, warm candlelight lit up inside, completely dispelling the chill.
Su Xiao entered the Church of Redemption. The layout here was not complicated. It was circular overall, with rings of stone steps at the center. The steps rose gradually, and a nearly three-meter-thick stone pillar stood atop them, reaching all the way to the ceiling and ensuring the church's structural stability.
The pillar was covered in names. One of them was Arus Lake, also known as the Immortal One.
"Arus Lake: Guardian of the Gate. He never worshiped the gods. May you be immortal."
It was a very simple record, yet it contained far too much—bloody slaughter, as well as a final blessing.
The Immortal One could grow stronger without suffering the erosion of the Ancient God's power, provided he worshiped the gods. Doing so, however, meant that he had submitted.
Below the Immortal One's name was another. Cracks covered it, and only a single character could be made out: "Prison."
There were far too many names on the pillar, and most of them were covered in cracks. This was likely caused by worshiping the gods. To worship the gods meant betraying the Church of Redemption.
Su Xiao stopped looking at the towering stone pillar and surveyed his surroundings. The church's interior was circular and covered several hundred square meters. Statues stood before the surrounding walls. Each was over three meters tall,
