Kankuli stood silently before an ancient, unadorned gate dozens of zhang tall.
But just then, an arm formed entirely from gathered energy pushed the gate open from within.
Beyond the gate lay a distorted expanse of Void, with a gigantic face bearing hollow eyes floating at its center.
"One hundred thousand troops is the current limit."
"This is your last chance. If you fail, withdraw."
The giant face vanished, replaced by a vortex from which warriors continuously emerged.
Kankuli lowered his head and said, "I shall obey your will!"
Within the Void, there was only one being whom Kankuli would treat with such courtesy: the Void Will.
In a sense, the Void Will did not judge someone's capabilities based on a single failure.
Of course, if their failure was too outrageous, the Void Will would erase them outright without the slightest hesitation.
Simply put, it was an extremely pragmatic being.
Every decision it made was based on its interests.
No one knew how long the Void had existed, yet there had never been any record of it attacking a plane equal to itself.
This alone showed that the Void Will was quite intelligent.
Or perhaps it believed that numbers could compensate for a lack of quality.
However it thought now, one thing was certain: the Void Will had not judged Kankuli based on the outcome of this battle.
As long as the Void Will believed Kankuli was still useful, it would continue supporting him.
Before leaving, it had even reminded Kankuli that if the operation failed, he could withdraw from the Elemental Kingdom.
That alone was enough to reveal many things.
The gate within the valley disappeared, replaced by one hundred thousand warriors.
