Checking the time, it was past midnight. I opened my computer to look up and research things about the Ghost Raising Dao, as I wasn't too familiar with its history.
After searching "Ghost Raising" on the search engine, a flood of web pages appeared, but none of the results were what I was looking for. They mostly talked about an old story concerning the bizarre death of a boy in red.
Casually browsing the story of the little boy in red, I noticed a coincidence. The child, born with extreme yin, was found hanged while wearing red clothes. After his death, items like needles and a scale weight were found on him. After some online analysis, someone suggested that this child had been raised as a little ghost.
They said dressing him in red was to summon his soul, and the scale weight was to anchor and preserve the soul's integrity.
A chill ran down my spine. The methods used seemed to have some connection to the Maoshan sect, a branch of the Daoist lineage. Recalling my own childhood experiences, I suddenly wondered if the culprit was the person who had once schemed against me. Perhaps, due to Grandma's interference, he had lost something valuable only to gain something else, and this little ghost became my substitute?
The outcome was unknown. After all, I genuinely didn't understand much about the Daoist lineage. I'd ask Zhao Qian another day; maybe she could shed some light on it.
After finishing the investigation video about the boy in red, I planned to go to bed.
But as I was about to shut down the computer, my automatically logged-in chat client suddenly popped up. A woman had sent me a message.
I didn't really want to look, but since it popped up directly, the words caught my eye. It said:
"Qianqian, take a look at this video. It seems the eldest son of the He family has really run into trouble, and you need to resolve it."
Then, a video was sent in the chat window. I was a bit curious, thinking it was probably a work-related video, so I accepted it to my desktop.
Once I received it, fearing it was urgent, I opened the video.
The video was surveillance footage. A man was sound asleep in bed, snoring. The surroundings were very quiet, with only a seemingly high-end lamp illuminated.
I thought it might turn into one of those Japanese adult films, but then I froze. I saw a white figure suddenly appear from the camera's blind spot. She slowly walked in, apparently from the window, and stopped beside the sleeping man, staring blankly.
After a long while, the entity seemed to notice it was being recorded and looked towards the camera. I was still watching the video when the ghost's head suddenly appeared right in front of the camera, nearly scaring me to tears!
That thing was no human; it was clearly a female ghost!
She was covered in water, dripping everywhere. Her face was frighteningly pale, and her hair seemed to have some water weeds tangled in it, as if she had just crawled out of the water.
Then, the video emitted a strange rustling sound, and the screen tore into pieces, leaving nothing.
"Did you see it? Did you see it? Isn't it ferocious?!" The woman in the chat window popped up again. Her avatar was a big-faced, obnoxious cat, but I checked her profile and saw she was a girl.
I didn't dare to answer. After a moment, the woman sent another message: "Scared yourself into peeing, huh? My dear beauty! Haha, this video, besides the visible feed, I cleverly also set up a hidden wireless connection. The visible one might even fry the memory card, right? The wireless one is encrypted, and the receiving location is at my place! See how good I am? I sent it to you before it even cooled down."
Hearing that, I knew it was bad. This foolish woman was probably in danger, having taken it upon herself to set up a wireless connection. I quickly sent a message: "Are you still at home? Come to my place immediately."
"What? I was about to undress and go to sleep! Besides, didn't you say my place was very safe? Did you set up the feng shui for me?" The little obnoxious cat messaged back.
"Then don't move. Zhao Qian and I are coming over," I felt it was useless to argue with her, and even if she left, she might not escape the ghost's deadly pursuit. The video even captured the ghost's appearance, showing how ferocious she was. The man hadn't died because the ghost knew him before she died and didn't rush to take his life. But this foolish woman was still in the mood to joke.
Then I ran upstairs and knocked on Zhao Qian's door.
To my surprise, Yu Xiao Xue opened the door sleepily, still wearing Zhao Qian's pajamas. My nose nearly bled at the sight. The sheer, thin pink lace dress looked incredibly sexy on Yu Xiao Xue. I instinctively glanced down and saw her chest was faintly visible, startling me. I immediately pushed her back and closed the door: "It's nothing, go back to sleep. Wrong door."
A thud sounded from behind the door, indicating she'd probably fallen back asleep.
I took a deep breath and felt a heavy yin energy behind me. Sister Wife seemed about to explode with anger. I quickly explained, "I didn't do it on purpose! We're saving someone!"
Without waiting for Sister Wife's next move, I ran to knock on another door. This time, I wouldn't knock on the wrong one.
After a long while, the light in Zhao Qian's room turned on. She had put on a small jacket over her pajamas, but her beautiful legs were still exposed, long and captivating.
"Tian Ge, what's wrong?" Zhao Qian seemed to have just woken up.
"Your friend! The cat one, messaged saying she saw a ghost. It popped up, so I accepted it without asking. We should go over there quickly; your feng shui tricks won't stop it," I said hurriedly.
"What cat or dog? Tian Ge, I'm so tired. Lots of people send videos in the middle of the night claiming ghosts," Zhao Qian mumbled, pushing me away and trying to go back to sleep.
I immediately beckoned, calling the little fierce ghost over. The little fierce ghost was very cooperative, immediately baring her fangs and standing in the direction she was looking.
Zhao Qian, who had been half-closing her eyes, saw this and was so terrified that her soul almost flew out. She instinctively screamed, turned around, and jumped into my arms.
Before I could even feel the softness against my chest, she nearly pushed me down the stairs. It took a while to regain my balance, and then Sister Wife finally unleashed her fury. A cold wind blew from nowhere, and the doors and windows began to rattle.
Zhao Qian was terrified. Seeing the little fierce ghost return to my side, her face flushed red as she slammed the door shut with a bang, followed by the sound of rustling clothes.
Soon, the radiant Zhao Qian joined me at the computer. We both looked at the chat window simultaneously. As we looked, a chill seemed to descend in the middle of the night. The window was filled with exclamation marks and all sorts of garbled symbols.
The first thing Zhao Qian and I thought was that something had happened. The feng shui of the person on the computer's house had likely been broken by the fierce ghost, and she had come after them.
We rushed out the door, and I opened the garage, ready to get the car.
"Don't drive, she lives across the street!" Zhao Qian said nervously, indicating that the person on the computer was quite important to her.
Hearing that, I slapped my forehead. You live across the street, why didn't you say so earlier!
We ran across the street. As Zhao Qian was about to knock, I had already kicked the door open and asked which room it was.
Zhao Qian pointed to the room on the second floor, and I immediately rushed in.
Inside the room, the girl's eyes were rolled back, her face flushed red from the strands of hair strangling her, her tongue sticking out. She was about to suffocate.
"Hurry and save her!" I ordered the little fierce ghost.
The little fierce ghost seemed displeased, probably thinking why I was always getting involved with women. However, she immediately pounced, grabbing the strands of hair. With strength I didn't know she had, she pulled the white-clothed female ghost off!
The white-clothed female ghost was unlucky to encounter the little fierce ghost. Before she could struggle much, she was gnawed into nothingness.
The little fierce ghost licked her lips, as if it tasted delicious.
I knew that this tactic of using one tiger to devour another was called devouring, and it could help the little fierce ghost grow rapidly to a certain extent.
But I couldn't worry too much about the little fierce ghost. The policewoman had stopped breathing, her tongue lolling out, eyes rolling back, and saliva dripping from her mouth.
Yes, a policewoman. I saw she was still in uniform, her buttons only half undone, revealing her close-fitting undergarments.
"Shan Shan! Sister Shan Shan, wake up! Don't scare me!" Zhao Qian rushed over and picked her up.
"What are you standing around for? She's not breathing! Do artificial respiration, do you want her to die!" I immediately pushed Zhao Qian aside, laid the policewoman flat on the ground, and reached out to put her slightly warm, dry tongue back in.
"Do you know artificial respiration?" I asked.
Zhao Qian, terrified, started crying and instinctively shook her head.
I sighed inwardly. Fine, she was a beautiful policewoman. I just hoped Sister Wife wouldn't throw a fit at a time like this.
"Sister, don't make trouble. I'm saving someone, you know." I muttered to myself, clasped my hands, and placed them on the policewoman's heaving chest, pressing down forcefully to perform CPR.
With every press, the soft, elastic chest made my heart pound wildly. Honestly, this was my first time touching a woman's chest, and it was a busty policewoman's, even if it was to save her life.
Sister Wife seemed to understand the gravity of the situation and didn't make things difficult for me. However, just as I was about to give the policewoman mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, a gust of cold wind blew past my ear, tickling me uncomfortably. The tsundere Ninth Princess clearly didn't want me to give away my first kiss.
"I remember now, this... I know how to do this... They taught us in school." Zhao Qian wiped away her tears, noticing the significant delay in my attempt at mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Zhao Qian took my place and performed artificial respiration on the policewoman.
After a bout of coughing, the policewoman was finally saved.
By then, I had already called the little fierce ghost back into the soul urn and was sitting on the bed waiting for her to wake up.
The policewoman's face was deathly pale. She looked at Zhao Qian, then at me, her eyes wide with lingering shock, but she didn't cry.
After a long moment, she actually smiled. "Qian, I saw a ghost!"
Had she gone crazy? It didn't seem like it; she was speaking quite calmly. I was starting to get a headache dealing with this policewoman. She seemed like a tough one!
"Mhm, mhm, Sister Shan Shan, I'm so glad you're okay!" Zhao Qian suddenly hugged the policewoman and burst into tears again.
"I think I almost died. I must have looked awful just now, with my tongue sticking out." The policewoman hesitated, then looked at me and asked bluntly, "And who might you be?"
"I'm Zhao Qian's friend," I replied. Don't you recognize me already? I just pressed your chest... no, wait, I just saved your life!
"This is Tian Ge. He was chatting with you online just now, and he asked me to bring him over from home to save you!" Zhao Qian explained.
"Huh? No, are you guys living together?!" the policewoman exclaimed, looking me up and down as if questioning my worthiness.
I was speechless. This policewoman's imagination was even wilder than Yu Xiao Xue's. I can't handle this. So I said, "Heh, since the ghost has been dealt with, I'll be heading home to sleep. You two chat."
With that, I left the room and went back to my study to sleep. It was already past two in the morning, and I had to go to Zhao Qian's grandfather's house tomorrow.
I never expected that just opening my computer could lead to something like this. It was truly bizarre.
