Carving a Hole

The materials needed to patch the opening weren't hard to find. Since the breach had been pecked open rather than eaten through, repairing it wasn't difficult. Of course, making it completely leakproof was impossible, but the lava would probably solidify after flowing through the small gaps for a while as it cooled, indirectly sealing the remaining leaks.

After I had the crane fill in the opening, it began shaking its head. Obviously, it wanted me to climb down. After all, who would want a freak standing on its head and giving it orders all over the place? Even this feathered beast felt the same way.

I knew it wouldn't be easy to get the crane as a mount, so I simply let go of it. But before I could even take out an immortal pill, the creature flapped its wings and flew away!

I hurried after it with the pill in hand. But the creature acted as though it hadn't seen me at all and went off somewhere else on its own.

It was inevitable that I felt frustrated. Looking at the empty cabin, I thought, I should've known better than to let it go.

Just as I was planning to leave this giant ship first, a familiar thump suddenly rang out again. I froze for a moment, then couldn't help smiling as I chased after the spot where the sound had come from.

It turned out that the crane had gone back to its old trade of pecking at the ship in search of an exit. After pecking at ship panels for so many years, it had long since grown accustomed to it. Now that it had defeated the Raging-Eyed Thunder Monkey, of course it wanted to leave. But I hadn't told it that I could take it outside.
