Background and History
Fugaku takes his young son to survey a battlefield after the Third Shinobi World War, where Itachi begins to confront the cruelty of war. He later befriends Uchiha Shisui, who approaches him while he is training alone 306 737.
Itachi graduates early from the Ninja Academy and enters the Chūnin Exams with his clan’s political hopes resting on his performance. He subsequently joins ANBU Squad Six. Fugaku sees his entry into ANBU as a possible route out of the Uchiha clan’s isolation, while Danzō intends to use him against the clan 448 549 645 658.
As tensions between Konoha and the Uchiha escalate, Itachi and Shisui work to prevent a coup. Itachi discovers that ANBU surveils the clan, while its radical faction begins questioning his loyalty. After Shisui’s death, Itachi awakens his Mangekyō Sharingan and is promoted to ANBU captain 676 721 737 741.
Danzō’s proposed solution is for Itachi to massacre the Uchiha and accept sole responsibility, with Sasuke spared. Itachi agrees, but the operation collapses when undercover agents expose Danzō’s plans. The clan subsequently mistakes Itachi’s conduct for a sacrifice made on its behalf 829 832.
Itachi later joins Akatsuki while maintaining that he is a Konoha shinobi. He reports information about the organization to Hiruzen and eventually breaks with Obito, judging Hyuga Sho’s power a more plausible means of achieving peace. His position within Akatsuki remains distinct from Obito’s faction 869 870 937 1011.
After being accused of Uchiha Saotome’s murder, Itachi is arrested and sent toward Hōzuki Castle. He escapes during an attack on the prison and later pilots a Getter Robot in an operation that destroys Akatsuki’s Demonic Statue of the Outer Path. The accusation against him is subsequently described as part of a test arranged by Tsunade and Hyuga Sho 1081 1083 1238 1251 1540.
During a later Getter Robot conflict, the Getter Ray transports Itachi to the Moon. Three years later, he works to repair a robot and return to Earth 1543 1603.
Personality
Itachi is reserved and disciplined, particularly under the expectations placed on him by Fugaku and the Uchiha clan. He shows more open affection toward Sasuke, though his duties repeatedly take him away from his younger brother 549.
He seeks to prevent war but makes severe choices in pursuit of that goal, including agreeing to Danzō’s massacre plan.
