Background / History
White Zetsu alerts Uchiha Madara when Hyuga Sho investigates the site of Uchiha Obito's accident 302. During Sho's subsequent search underground, a White Zetsu is killed and has its abilities absorbed. Sho gains White Zetsu Cells, while Black Zetsu withdraws rather than risk a further confrontation 305.
White Zetsu later impersonates Nohara Rin as part of a plan involving Obito, while the real Rin is kept elsewhere 311 324. White Zetsu also works with Black Zetsu as an observer and messenger: it transmits a distant conversation to Obito, reports on events in the Land of Waves, and delivers intelligence to Shimura Danzō 336 1213 1215. A White Zetsu clone impersonates Hyuga Sho during an attempt to frame him in Konoha 620.
After Sho kills another White Zetsu, he takes its corpse to Orochimaru for research 1292 1296. Their experiments produce new White Zetsu, including a distinctive female-appearing specimen that Sho eventually turns into a reconnaissance subordinate 1298 1308.
