Thor and Loki looked at each other, both pale with shock and lingering fear.
Only now did they realize they had brushed past death.
If Russell had destroyed Jotunheim, they likely would not have escaped either.
Star Core Rupture would cause a massive explosion, and they had no way to flee Jotunheim quickly.
"But he didn't do it."
Odin continued.
"Killing is only a means, not the goal. Needless slaughter cannot bring peace.
Thor, my son, remember this.
A king must possess strength, but he must also understand how to wield it."
After lecturing Thor, Odin turned his complicated gaze toward Loki.
Loki noticed Odin's gaze as well and met his eyes.
At that moment, the emotions in father and son's eyes were impossible to decipher.
"Go now, my children. There will be a Triumphal Celebration later. Don't forget to attend."
Triumphal? Celebration?
Thor's brows rose and the corners of his mouth lifted, as though he were about to smile.
Loki discreetly jabbed Thor with his elbow.
Thor looked at Loki with an innocent expression, as if asking, Brother, what are you doing?
Helpless, Loki had to explain, "It isn't being held for us. It's for Master Russell."
Odin glared at his clueless son, then nodded to indicate that Loki was right.
For Thor, Loki, and the others, their trip to Jotunheim had been a complete failure.
Had Russell not been there, the All-Father Odin would likely have needed to intervene personally to bring them back.
But even then, the Frost Giants of Jotunheim would not have let the matter rest, and a great war would have been unavoidable.
When that happened, peace between the two realms would have been shattered, and innocent lives would have faced the terror and devastation of war.
