Since projecting into other worlds placed great demands on the projection technology,
and if they were too far away from Ark and something happened, it would be difficult to deal with,

Why not simply project everything inside Ark?
Within Ark... they could temporarily create a world bubble to serve as the competition venue.
Then they could project everyone into it.
If something really went wrong, they could respond quickly.
