Within the Northern Spiritual Territory, the academy maintains an independent and transcendent position. It controls Northern Spiritual City rather than a domain, avoids involvement in the disputes of the Nine Domains, and holds the quotas connected to the Five Great Academies; the Nine Domain Lords observe an unwritten rule against allowing their conflicts to spill into the city. 6

Academy Trial

The Northern Spiritual Realm is a self-contained trial ground used to assess prospective students. Participants must reach the central Northern Spiritual Hall while improving the qualification mark on their foreheads. 81

Major Events

Freshman Assembly

The Freshman Assembly is the first major competition for new students. Participants race toward the summit of North Spirit Mountain and contend for the Spirit Banner while facing Spirit Beasts, including a Heaven Tier Spirit Beast. 124

The first five finishers receive Spirit Value rewards from 100,000 to 500,000 and gain entry qualification for the Spiritual Art Temple, where they may obtain powerful or even Divine Grade Spiritual Arts. 124

Northern Spiritual Plains Training

The academy periodically sends Heaven Tier students to the Northern Spiritual Plains for practical cultivation and combat experience. Masters Mo and Xi accompany these expeditions as Divine Spirit Realm deterrents and guides. 30 35

Influence and Security

The academy is situated at the center of the Northern Cang Continent and is described as its strongest force. Its focus is cultivating students rather than conquering the continent, leaving students to face the dangers of the outside world on their own once they leave academy protection. 163

A guardian Spirit Array protects the boundary between the academy’s inner and outer areas. Entry requires an Academy Pass obtained in Northern Cang City; unauthorized intruders are subject to attack by the array. 163

Centuries earlier, the Dragon Demon Palace attacked the academy in an attempt to seize control of the Northern Cang Continent. The conflict devastated the continent, but the Dragon Demon Palace was defeated and driven into concealment. 168
