"General Zod was only leading a small group of survivors, around a dozen in total."
"And I forgot to tell you: Kryptonians draw their abilities from the Yellow Sun of the Solar System. Under normal circumstances, the more solar energy they absorb, the stronger they become."
"By that time, Clark had probably accumulated around thirty years' worth of solar energy. Theoretically, taking on ten of them by himself wouldn't have been a problem."
Batman knew things could not be that simple. Even if Clark had that ability, he could not stop a dozen Kryptonians at once. He could not be everywhere at once.
Right in front of Clark, he asked directly, "Do Kryptonians have weaknesses? If so, what are they?"
Clark stared at him in astonishment. I'm still here.
To his surprise, Dane nodded and answered, "Yes! And quite a few."
Clark turned to look at him again. No, I'm still here!
Dane ignored his resentful little look and continued:
"First, magic. Kryptonians have some resistance to magic, but it is far inferior to their physical resistance."
"They aren't invincible."
Batman nodded thoughtfully. He would look into that later.
"Second, certain neurotoxic gases may affect their senses."
"But use them with caution. General Zod's people are all professional soldiers. Little tricks like that won't work for long."
Batman continued nodding. The Fear Gas he had just collected from Scarecrow seemed like it might still have some use after all.
"Third, Kryptonite can effectively suppress Kryptonian abilities and make them weaker than ordinary humans."
A sharp gleam burst from Batman's eyes. This was it!
Yet he still asked steadily, "Then where can Kryptonite be found?"
Clark threw his head back in grief and indignation. I told you, I'm still here!
Unfortunately, neither of the two schemers paid him any attention.
Dane shook his head regretfully.
"It can't be found for now. Kryptonite can only form in Krypton's environment."
Batman was also disappointed, but he firmly committed the matter to memory.
He had a strong feeling that this knowledge would come in handy sooner or later.
Dane did not continue. In truth, Kryptonians had another weakness.
Red Sun radiation, while unable to significantly weaken a Kryptonian's physical functions like Kryptonite could, could hinder their absorption of sunlight.
Under a Red Sun, a Kryptonian was like an oversized energy battery. Once the charge ran out, they would be reduced to an ordinary person.
It was ideal for creating cages to imprison Kryptonians.
The reason Dane did not mention it was that the previous methods were not easy to implement.
Before Superman's super-speed, those traps would be easy to avoid.
But Red Sun radiation had virtually no technical threshold, and Superman was obviously not faster than light.
Wayne Enterprises' research division knew a few black-tech tricks too. If Batman started mass-producing Red Sun weapons, would Dane not be screwing over his good brother Clark?
How could he possibly be that kind of person?
Of course, something this useful had to stay in his own hands!
Nightfall
"However, General Zod's arrival can only be considered one of the future disasters."
"It may be difficult to resolve, but it is not impossible."
Batman caught the implication behind his words. "There will be many more disasters in the future?"
"Many. For example, Seaside City may face an attack by alien monsters."
"Once it succeeds, Earth may not even last until Zod arrives."
Batman's head started hurting again.
"What else?"
"Darkseid. You may not know much about him. You only need to know that he is a god from another planet."
"And his power differs from ours. He is a complete god. That should make the severity of this situation clear."
"Alright, that covers disasters involving alien invasions. Now let's talk about those within our own planet."
There's more? Seriously, can't we just move to another planet?
Standing nearby, Jason was also learning for the first time about all the disasters Earth was about to face. Just hearing about them made his heart tremble.
He could not help complaining inwardly.
"Go on."
Batman seemed to have adjusted his mindset already.
"Have you heard the legend of Atlantis?"
"Of course. Don't tell me you mean to say that kingdom is real?"
"Unfortunately, it is real, and it is hidden in the depths of the ocean."
"Over the years, humanity has polluted the marine environment in the name of industrial development. They are nearly at the end of their patience."
"War?" Batman turned serious.
Once war began, it would mean humanity slaughtering one another.
It would be wrong to support either side. The Justice League could not take a political stance.
Though he had only just joined, Batman had already begun considering matters from the Justice League's perspective.
"Yes, war. This crisis will be difficult to handle."
"It isn't about needing enough strength. It is about how the Justice League can resolve the conflict peacefully."
"Forcing both sides into a ceasefire through violence would certainly be easy, but it could leave behind the hidden danger of 'Superman's tyranny.'"
Not everyone could resist the temptation to rule the secular world through power.
Once the Justice League had tasted power, it would be hard to say whether someone would become addicted to it.
Injustice Superman had shown signs of being corrupted by power later on. His changes were not entirely due to his remorse over what happened to Lois.
Batman was surprised that Dane had thought that far ahead. He had not been without suspicions that Dane wanted to control the world.
Now, it seemed he had been prejudiced against him.
"The issue with Atlantis is how to stop it before the war begins. I already have some ideas about that. Let's move on to the next one: Trigon."
Compared to Trigon, the previous problems were nothing.
Trigon was someone whose true form could destroy the universe.
If that guy truly descended, forget Earth—the entire DCEU would be finished.
Unless Dane could grow to a multiversal level later on, he would be helpless against him.
But Trigon was a magic-side problem, and there was not much Superman or Batman could do to help.
"So, the Justice League's goal for the foreseeable future remains recruiting more new members, especially those on the magic side."
"Batman, leave a magician named Constantine to me."
"I still have some matters to deal with in Gotham..."
"Arkham's criminals are basically all dead. Who exactly do you need to deal with?"
Batman: ...
"I think that even if there are any fish that slipped through the net, you can leave them to Jason. He is very efficient at getting things done now."
They were all dead, of course he was efficient. Batman's face darkened slightly.
Seeing that, Dane continued morally coercing him.
"Bruce, compared with the danger facing the entire world, Gotham's public safety really is just a minor issue."
Since he had put it that way, Batman no longer refused and tacitly accepted the task.
Jason stood to one side, quietly breaking into a chilling smile.
"One more thing. To deal with future crises—"
"Bruce, you should upgrade your Bat Suit. It can no longer keep up with the pace of battle, especially against opponents like us."
Batman recalled the sight of Dane commanding wind and rain in the sky and could not help nodding. His Batplane probably could not even hurt him.
"So, I plan to grant you access to some technical permissions. You can select whatever is useful from them to upgrade your suit."
As Dane spoke, he uploaded part of Umbrella's database.
Incidentally, he sent it through the device Batman had left behind earlier.
So the face beneath Batman's mask was probably as black as the mask itself, but he accepted it without changing expression.
At that moment, Barbara, who had finished her surgery, walked out.
Batgirl had revived!
At night, Dane observed the stars from the observatory atop Justice Hall.
Favored by Solomon's Wisdom, he had been granted the book The Key of Solomon.
Some of its star-reading techniques were worth studying carefully.
"I truly don't understand. With your abilities, you could easily gain far greater power."
"Why do these thankless, exhausting things instead?"
Dane turned and saw Poison Ivy's nearly naked figure before him.
Were the leaves on her body fewer than when he had first met her?
Noticing his gaze, Poison Ivy instead thrust herself out, further accentuating her curvaceous figure.
Dane smiled. With a thought, he used divine power to clear the abnormal pheromones from the air.
"You know that doesn't work on me."
Poison Ivy could secrete unique hormonal pheromones to seduce men and women, making them fall madly in love with her.
She had just tried to use that method on Dane, but unfortunately, it had not worked.
Seeing that her ability was ineffective, Poison Ivy did not mind.
"What harm is there in trying?"
It was hard to say whether she was hinting at something.
"How do you plan to arrange me?"
"I haven't decided yet. Until then, stay by my side and behave yourself. At the very least, don't make trouble for Jason."
"Heh. You men are always like this, always wanting to keep women tied to your side."
Dane did not deny it. "If I have that ability, why shouldn't I?"
"Hmph, I thought you were a superhero."
Poison Ivy walked over and sat beside him, her bare foot as nimble as fingers as it slid along Dane's calf.
Dane grabbed it, then gently set it back down.
"I have never claimed to be a hero. Being a hero is exhausting."
Poison Ivy shifted her sitting position and continued physically teasing Dane.
"Then why not come with me? Wouldn't it be nice to be a simple villain?"
This time, Dane did not stop her. He only smiled.
"If I know I have the ability to do something and choose not to, that isn't my style."
