"Descendants of the defiant, die!"
The Enchantress's body surged with black mist, and a swarm of black locusts flew out from the forest behind her, pouncing on the tribespeople and devouring their flesh.
Amid their miserable screams, the Enchantress laughed in delight.
Suddenly, she seemed to hear something, and her expression changed.
She hurriedly took out a small clay figurine and grabbed a strong man from the tribe.
"You should feel honored!"
Laughing, she snapped off the clay figure's head. A cloud of black mist seeped into the man's seven orifices.
The man shuddered violently and collapsed to the ground.
The Enchantress gently embraced him and whispered into his ear, "Wake up, my brother."
The man suddenly convulsed. When he rose to his feet, his entire appearance and temperament had undergone a drastic change.
"Sister..."
"A powerful enemy is coming, my brother. Eat quickly!"
The man readily agreed. He opened his mouth and inhaled, swallowing the life force of more than a dozen young men.
Unlike his sister, he was not picky about what he ate.
He absorbed not only their life force, but their flesh and bones as well, leaving not even a scrap behind.
His body then grew at an unnatural speed. Before long, he had become a muscular giant over two meters tall.
He wore an expression of enjoyment, but before he could savor it, a bolt of lightning descended from the sky and struck him.
His two-meter-tall body was blasted away like a rag sack, yet the giant was completely unharmed.
He shook his head and stood back up.
"She found a helper." Zatanna sounded somewhat nervous.
Dane descended from the sky with her.
"One each. I'll take the big guy."
Evil God's Brother spotted the enemy, and blazing fire erupted all over his body. Dane could practically smell the sulfur of hell.
The man rose to his feet, and the earth beneath him crawled up his body like a snake.
Then flames engulfed his flesh, while dirt and stone filled in to become his blood and meat.
In the blink of an eye, the burly man had transformed into a giant over three meters tall, radiating scorching yellow fire from his entire body.
This was no ordinary fire, nor was it hellfire. It was Soul Fire, created by the giant through witchcraft after stealing the lives of mortals.
Its fuel was the human souls that had died by his hand.
Of the evil god siblings, the brother was mainly responsible for direct combat, and his abilities were better suited for close-quarters fighting.
After the fire giant completed his transformation, Zatanna looked at him, then looked down at her own height.
"Fine, it looks like he can only be left to you."
The Fire Giant roared and threw a punch at Dane.
Was Dane supposed to back down from that?
Without a second thought, Dane punched back. Fist met fist, and a massive shockwave spread out, shattering the other man's stone fist.
Broken stones still burning with fire flew toward the Enchantress. She chanted an incomprehensible spell.
The burning rocks stopped before her, then flew back toward Zatanna.
But Zatanna remained calm in the face of danger. One hand held down the magician's hat on her head, while the other gripped her wand.
She spoke another backward spell. Translated normally, it meant "Impact"!
The flaming rubble scattered, and the flames clinging to it turned green. By the time Zatanna realized something was wrong, it was already too late.
The green flames touched the surrounding tribespeople and caused drastic changes in them.
Their features began to twist, and the fire of their lives began to fade.
Like a virulent virus, the humans burned by the green flames eventually transformed into monsters made of obsidian.
Zatanna had not expected this outcome and froze for a moment.
The Enchantress shrieked, and the obsidian "people," obedient as servants, charged at Zatanna.
Dane, who had been watching the battle closely, released electricity from his palm and unhesitatingly pierced several monsters that were about to reach Zatanna.
"They're already dead. Don't hold back. Do what you can."
At his words, Zatanna rallied herself. She waved her wand and said something incomprehensible.
The ground beneath the monsters suddenly turned into a swamp.
Before entering The Rock of Eternity, she would not have been able to cast magic on such a large scale. It seemed that feeling back then had not been an illusion—the throne really could significantly increase her magical power.
But the Enchantress was no ordinary opponent. Although her strength had declined due to the lack of human sacrifices over the years—
She was still not someone a novice mage like Zatanna could handle.
She was only wary of Dane, because that man possessed divine power.
Instead of having the monsters attack Zatanna, she sent them after the tribespeople, intending to infect more people and turn them into monsters.
The Fire Giant quickly regenerated his broken arm. He stared gravely at Dane. This man was difficult to deal with.
Dane did not just stand there glaring at him. He began unleashing lightning from both hands.
This divine lightning was the bane of evil and had a certain suppressive effect on the power of evil gods as well.
The Fire Giant screamed as he was blasted away.
The Enchantress's expression changed at once. Her body dispersed into black mist, and she teleported away again.
The instant her figure vanished, a fist crackling with electricity slammed down, leaving behind a massive crater.
Dane emerged from the crater and hurled lightning spears from both hands, eliminating the remaining monsters one by one.
"Her teleportation ability is troublesome, and if she runs somewhere with lots of people..."
Zatanna did not continue. In a crowded place, the Enchantress would regain her strength much faster.
"So we have to find a way to lock down her ability to move. The good news is that she was sealed away for over a thousand years. She definitely doesn't know the area, so she should still be wandering nearby."
"What's the bad news?"
"There's more than one tribe around this rainforest."
"Then let's go!" Zatanna said urgently.
"Wait." Dane carved a magic circle into the ground.
"This will keep those two from coming back for another attack."
The tribe was in ruins, but fortunately, quite a few survivors remained.
Given the Enchantress's hatred for them, there was a high chance she would return to slaughter them.
Dane then handed Zatanna a pair of handcuffs glowing with blue light.
"This is a magical artifact made from Eternal Metal. It has a sealing spell engraved on it."
"That witch seems to be underestimating you. Find a chance to put these on her."
Zatanna took the handcuffs and smiled knowingly.
She took the initiative to grab Dane's arm, and the two of them set off again in pursuit of the direction the Enchantress had fled.
"They've locked onto us!"
The Enchantress had just hidden in the forest with her brother when she sensed the two of them approaching again.
"We can't keep hiding like this. We need to find a way to hold them down completely, so we'll have time to find more humans to feed on."
"But we haven't recovered enough strength yet. That man is very strong."
The giant spoke gloomily. At his peak, he would never have been this weak.
"It doesn't matter. We don't need much time. Just a little while."
"I can sense the smell of humans. We'll go to the next tribe immediately. All the defiant must die!"
The Enchantress gritted her teeth as she spoke, then continued teleporting with her brother.
At that moment, Dane, flying through the air, immediately sensed that his targets had vanished. After thinking for a moment, he realized the Enchantress's plan.
"Hold tight. They're going to attack the next tribe."
Mercury's Speed displayed its power. Dane flew faster than a rocket, even stretching and warping the scenery around them.
Zatanna tightly hugged his body, as though that was the only way she could feel even a trace of security.
They flew over the hills and landed in a new tribe.
The next instant, the Enchantress appeared with her brother.
"Split up." Dane shot out the moment he finished speaking.
The giant had barely steadied himself when Dane grabbed his huge face and lifted his entire body into the air.
"Brother!"
The Enchantress watched helplessly as Dane hauled her brother into the sky, unable to do anything.
Besides, with her current strength, flying up there would be useless. She might even end up being dealt with by Dane as well.
So she could only vent her anger on Zatanna.
"How dare you!"
With a wave of one hand, she raised the earth. The ground transformed into blades that slashed toward her enemy.
Zatanna pointed her wand and began chanting.
Suddenly, a powerful flash of light burst from the tip of the wand. The Enchantress had been staring at her with wide eyes and was instantly struck.
She clutched her eyes and screamed.
The Enchantress's howl could shake the mind. When Zatanna was hit by the sound, she found herself unable to move her feet.
She barely raised a hand and cast Silence Magic.
The Enchantress's howl weakened, but it still retained some of its power.
The tribespeople, unaware of what was happening, heard the scream. Their faces twisted in terrified agony, and though they covered their faces, they could not stop blood from pouring out of their seven orifices.
Zatanna desperately wanted to save them, but she knew that only by defeating the Enchantress could she truly solve their problem.
The most important thing now was to prevent the Enchantress from getting near the tribe.
In the sky, Dane grabbed the giant by the face and hurled him down with all his strength, sending him crashing into the ground and creating a huge crater.
Taking advantage of the moment, he gathered enough energy and struck his opponent with a lightning spear.
But evil gods were truly hard to kill. Dane could clearly sense that the other one was still alive. His durability was absurd.
He glanced in Zatanna's direction. She would not be able to hold out much longer.
If Dane wanted to kill Evil God's Brother completely as fast as possible...
Dane dove down, planting both feet on the giant's face and nearly crushing his skull.
"I rarely use this move, but as a god, I'm willing to give you one final measure of dignity."
The giant did not understand what he meant, but instinctively sensed danger and struggled desperately.
Dane crouched down, placed a hand on the giant's face, and softly said:
"Shazam!"
Boom—!
A bolt of thunderous lightning descended from the sky, striking both him and the giant directly.
"No—!"
The instant the giant evil god died, the Enchantress immediately sensed it.
