He pointed at the Joker personality's nose. "I've already killed him once. So what if I kill him again?"
"But I don't want to do that right now. Bruce, you said this is your city."
"You want me to protect your city? Then what do you need Batman for?"
He sneered. "I think Jason did a much better job than you in that regard."

Dane's words seemed to suddenly open up Batman's train of thought, and he immediately called Jason.
Although they had barely kept in touch after the Scarecrow incident, and Jason had not returned to Wayne Manor either.
Bruce had still found Jason's contact information through his own methods, though he had never called it.
The moment he called, Jason answered within seconds.
"Jason..."
"I already know what happened. I'm dealing with Project Rain now. That's it!"
Before Batman could say anything, Jason rattled it all off and hung up.
Only then did Dane gleefully add,
"I recorded what you said when you confronted the Joker and sent it to Jason ages ago."
"See? I told you he's far more suited to be this city's Dark Knight than you are."
Batman had no time to settle scores with him. Since Dane refused to help, Batman could only figure something out himself.
He roughly hauled Hush up and dragged him into the Batcave.
When he appeared there, Barbara thought he had changed his mind and felt a little pleased.
"I found it. Use your X-ray vision to look through this guy's chest."
Barbara looked at Hush's strange grin and gathered her courage.
Dane had been right. The device that could stop the microbomb's countdown had been installed on Hush's heart.
This must have been the Joker's own idea. Who knew how he had pulled it off.
