The biological armor formed by the viruses differentiating across his body could withstand cannon shells, so there was truly no reason to wear anything else.
After passing through the portal, Chen Changsheng discovered that he was in an underwater environment just like the one he had left. After sensing around, he found that this world contained no organisms similar to Elizabeth.

When the first insectoid hatched, the Mother Nest had gotten on the right track. It no longer needed Chen Changsheng's supervision, though a brain worm was still necessary to control the overall situation.
Chen Changsheng extracted some of the memories stored within the Web of Conspiracy, then used the virus to create a biological brain. After connecting it to Willow Tree's roots, a simple Hive Brain Worm made its dazzling debut.
This brain worm was only responsible for one Mother Nest and didn't need to deal with troublesome humans, so it didn't require many abilities. Being average was enough. This was how the virus aggregate produced insectoids: catalyze their development, implant memories, and proceed simply and efficiently.
