Obadiah barely had time to fire a few grenades before Chen Changsheng was already in front of him.
In Obadiah's terrified gaze, Chen Changsheng raised his greatsword, and with a swift chop, severed the Iron Monger's arms.
Chen Changsheng leaped up, flipped over the Iron Monger's head, and with a turn, kicked at its leg. The Iron Monger immediately lost its balance and fell face-first. Obadiah, trapped inside, was hit head-on and nearly crushed to death by the Iron Monger.
Having landed a blow, Chen Changsheng lightly hopped back, creating distance between himself and the Iron Monger. He stood still, waiting for Obadiah to get back up.
At this point, Chen Changsheng had a clear understanding of the Iron Monger's strength – just a humanoid armor. He'd dealt with tanks before. It was like meat on a chopping block; why should he be afraid?
Standing quietly in the distance, Chen Changsheng formed a shield with his left hand and a blade with his right, his all-black armor exuding a murderous aura.
Obadiah, having just experienced a moment of crisis, was shaken. Seeing Chen Changsheng still standing motionless, he felt a slight sense of relief.
Looking at Chen Changsheng in his all-black armor, Obadiah felt the entire atmosphere had changed. For some reason, he felt like he was in a completely different world compared to just moments ago.
Standing up straight again, Obadiah took a deep look at Chen Changsheng, who was clad in black armor in the distance. Chen Changsheng's abilities truly shocked Obadiah. As the CEO of Umbrella Corporation, it was impossible for Obadiah not to be familiar with him; they were competitors, after all. How could he not know more about him?
Yet, even with the intelligence Obadiah had gathered through personal connections and his understanding of Chen Changsheng, he never expected him to possess such hidden strength.
Currently, Obadiah's Iron Monger had its arms severed by Chen Changsheng, and one leg was also deformed from his kick. It was truly crippled, but Obadiah had no intention of waiting for death.
The Iron Monger still had a laser-guided missile. Obadiah felt Chen Changsheng couldn't possibly withstand such an attack. Even if he did, he'd likely be gravely wounded and on the verge of death.
"Jack, I think we have some misunderstanding..." Obadiah said softly to Chen Changsheng. As he spoke, he re-covered his face with the helmet.
The Iron Monger's helmet no longer had an auxiliary aiming function, but that didn't matter. What was important was that Obadiah put his helmet back on, feeling a long-lost sense of security.
With newfound security, Obadiah prepared to use his eloquence to save his life. If that failed, he would detonate the missile and take Chen Changsheng with him.
Facing a life-or-death crisis, Obadiah made all sorts of promises to Chen Changsheng. It was unavoidable; he was just trying to buy himself a chance to survive.
But being in the Marvel universe, Chen Changsheng knew exactly how to choose. Obadiah, your part in this story ends today. Prepare for your final scene.
Chen Changsheng silently raised his shield in front of him, his right hand holding the greatsword horizontally, adopting a highly aggressive stance.
Obadiah's voice gradually faded. He seemed to have understood Chen Changsheng's attitude. Looking at Chen Changsheng, who held a shield and a sword, Obadiah felt he was in a very passive position. With only a pair of detached arms on his Iron Monger, he could only stand and take hits.
But fortunately, his Iron Monger was made of sturdy materials and was incredibly durable. Tony Stark's micro-missiles and laser cannons hadn't been able to breach it earlier. Obadiah felt there was no reason Chen Changsheng could break through his defenses.
Obadiah used to box. He recalled a time when he wasn't bald, a young, promising, handsome man. Back then, he was rich and practiced boxing to impress women. But as he got older and his hair thinned, he lost that drive.
It was like the saying goes, "I went bald, and I got stronger." Inside the Iron Monger, Obadiah prepared for a true man-to-man fight with Chen Changsheng, though Obadiah intended to kick Chen Changsheng to death...
However, the Iron Monger was just an Iron Monger with a crippled leg. Noticing Obadiah's eagerness, Chen Changsheng, though puzzled by Obadiah's sudden confidence, didn't let it stop him from interrupting Obadiah's daydream.
More importantly, Chen Changsheng could already hear the distant sound of sirens. The NYPD was on their way. If he didn't finish Obadiah quickly, more complications might arise.
No longer lost in thought, Chen Changsheng prepared to act.
As Chen Changsheng sprinted towards the Iron Monger, Obadiah also drove the Iron Monger towards him.
But with one leg half-crippled, the Iron Monger's movement was extremely awkward, like a hopping frog with only one leg.
In the blink of an eye, Chen Changsheng was upon them. Inside the Iron Monger, Obadiah gave a cold smile and pressed the launch button, firing the last missile.
Obadiah never intended to fight Chen Changsheng head-on. With a contingency plan in place, everything he did before was just a prelude. Now that the prelude was over, goodbye, Jack.
Firing a missile at such close range, Obadiah believed the Iron Monger could withstand the explosion. As for Chen Changsheng, that was uncertain. Even now, Obadiah hadn't seen any other abilities from Chen Changsheng; he had only displayed slightly stronger attacks.
Today was destined to be Obadiah's downfall. Chen Changsheng, running, noticed the incoming missile. His speed didn't decrease, and simultaneously, his right hand transformed from a blade into countless fine tendrils.
The tips of the tendrils were extremely fine, like countless strands of hair dancing in the air, eventually forming a space filled with them in the missile's path.
Upon entering, the missile's speed drastically reduced. Chen Changsheng quickly turned, pulling the tendrils tightly with both hands, and flung them far away like a chain ball.
The bundle of tendrils that had enveloped the missile was also discarded. The missile, flying far away, crashed into a building, causing a violent explosion. The virus was also carried by the shockwave into the distance. Some were annihilated in Chen Changsheng's virus detection, while others remained alive.
Chen Changsheng had already reached Obadiah. Instantly, his hands transformed into massive fists, carrying immense inertia as they slammed into the Iron Monger.
With one punch, the Iron Monger left the ground. Chen Changsheng quickly pursued, delivering another heavy punch. Before it could hit the ground, the Iron Monger was sent flying back into the sky.
After a few back-and-forth exchanges, Obadiah, inside the Iron Monger, was on the verge of death.
Chen Changsheng looked at the large hole in the distance, blown open by the missile. Inside the building, the circular device emitting an arc of electricity was Stark Industries' large Arc Reactor.
Recalling Obadiah's original fate, Chen Changsheng suddenly had a new idea.
He grabbed the Iron Monger, now a pile of scrap metal on the ground, and hurled it with all his might. He used to see A-Gē casually grab someone or hurl debris at planes while running. Chen Changsheng found it baffling then, but after casually throwing Obadiah away today, he felt a strange sense of satisfaction.
Watching the Iron Monger fly away, its speed clearly exceeding Mach 1, a sonic boom erupted. The feeling was as satisfying as skipping stones...
Witnessing the Iron Monger crash into the giant Arc Reactor, Chen Changsheng couldn't help but exclaim, "Yes!"
Without time to dwell on the power of his death throw, Chen Changsheng quickly ran into the distance.
The Arc Reactor had deformed under Obadiah's violent impact. Seeing it shake more and more violently, Chen Changsheng dared not linger.
Although Chen Changsheng felt he could survive the explosion, there was no need. It wasn't a life-or-death situation, and there was no benefit to be gained. Who would take such a risk?
Running at full speed, Chen Changsheng grabbed the leg of an Iron Man Armor as he passed Tony.
With Chen Changsheng's strength, the weight of a small Iron Man Armor was negligible. At Chen Changsheng's incredible speed, the Iron Man Armor was dragged off the ground like a kite.
In just this short time, the Arc Reactor had reached its limit. After two violent shakes, it finally exploded.
The shockwave swept towards him rapidly. Chen Changsheng, through the virus dispersing in the air behind him, clearly felt the speed of the incoming shockwave.
Sensing the speed at which the shockwave was expanding, Chen Changsheng quickly calculated that running was no longer an option. In a moment of crisis, it was better to endure it head-on.
He tossed Tony Stark to the ground with one hand, transforming his own hands into a pair of giant semicircular shields. As he slammed the shields onto the ground, he continuously channeled Biomass energy from within his body into them, causing the shields to rapidly enlarge.
Under the immense energy, the two shields finally grew to over two meters tall before the shockwave arrived. Leaning against each other, they formed a small, enclosed space, securely shielding Chen Changsheng and Tony Stark within.
Immediately after, the explosion's shockwave hit. Under the immense force, the shields were on the verge of shattering. Chen Changsheng swiftly replenished his Biomass, rapidly regenerating the shields.
Fortunately, the shockwave from the explosion lasted only a short time and began to gradually weaken. Even so, the amount of Biomass Chen Changsheng consumed during that brief period was the most he had ever used in this world.
Essentially all the Bio-energy Chen Changsheng had carried with him was depleted in this single instance.
No longer feeling the shockwave's impact, Chen Changsheng retracted his shields, reabsorbing them into his body as Biomass. Only then did he feel his depleted body begin to recover slightly.
Looking into the distance, the mushroom cloud formed by the Arc Reactor's explosion was slowly rising. Without the shockwave, the mushroom cloud radiated immense light and heat, soaring towards the sky.
In the few seconds Chen Changsheng quietly watched, the mushroom cloud had already reached the height of the Stark Industries building.
Turning his gaze to the Stark Industries park, it had been completely reduced to ruins. The Stark Industries building in the distance fared no better, with almost all its windows shattered. All the electrical appliances within the office areas would likely need replacing.
However, this was no longer Chen Changsheng's concern. Stark Industries wasn't his; its owner was still here. He'd let Tony Stark worry about it.
Still, it was fortunate it happened at night, as there weren't many people in the park. Otherwise, Tony would have lost everything this time.
And this time, Chen Changsheng felt Stark Industries' stock price would only fall further, and he felt he could go all in.
After all, to any normal observer, Stark Industries had suffered such immense losses. The Stark Industries park was a ruin, the Stark Industries building was nearly destroyed, and even the executive director, Obadiah, was dead. It was clear Stark Industries was finished. If one didn't cut their losses now, they'd likely lose everything.
The commotion from the giant Arc Reactor explosion also thoroughly frightened the NYPD officers who were rushing to the scene. Almost all police cars slammed on their brakes simultaneously, remaining in place to observe.
The American police did not possess the same "serve the people" consciousness as the People's Army. Everyone present watched in shock as the massive mushroom cloud gradually ascended, silently thinking, "My life is my own. I can lose my job, but I can't lose my life."
Some who valued their lives had already fled towards bomb shelters. The mushroom cloud truly felt like a nuclear explosion or the outbreak of a world war.
Looking down at the unresponsive Tony Stark, Chen Changsheng felt the heartbeat within the Iron Man Armor and found Tony growing weaker.
Even though Chen Changsheng had used his two massive shields to create a safe space for them, Tony's mortal body still couldn't withstand the vibrations and impacts of the explosion.
Fortunately, he was still clinging to life. Chen Changsheng casually tore open the mangled Iron Man Armor helmet, squeezed a drop of Life Essence produced by the Willow Tree from his fingertip, and dripped it into Tony's mouth. "I haven't made any money from the stocks I bought yet, kid. You can't die on me," Chen Changsheng muttered inwardly while saving Tony.
As the Life Essence entered Tony's body, his physical condition rapidly changed. Shattered blood vessels and nerves grew at an astonishing rate, and within tens of seconds, he had recovered to a healthy state. Even the irreversible damage caused by the sonic paralyzer not long ago was repaired.
The only awkward part was that Chen Changsheng, controlling his tendrils, had inadvertently protected the shrapnel fragment within Tony Stark's heart, preventing it from being expelled by Tony's rapidly healing body.
