Background / History
The Chu Family was an ancient lineage of Xuanhuang Hall whose first-generation patriarch was among the founding elders of Wuji Institute. Its inheritance lasted for more than ten thousand years, and marriage alliances extended its influence throughout Xuanhuang Hall and the wider Xuanhuang Universe Country. 649 715
At its height, the family had more than one million members, though fewer than a thousand were considered true core members. It possessed a Half-Step God Realm Old Ancestor, a Nine Realms of God Ascension powerhouse, and more than one hundred experts at the Seventh and Eighth Realms of Ascending Divinity. 715
The family’s foundation lay in Wuji Institute, but its members held positions across the Four Halls and Seven Institutes of Xuanhuang Hall. This influence enabled it to alter missions and protect its interests through institutional connections. 726
Organization and Influence
- Old Ancestor — Half-Step God Realm leader; regarded as the family’s ultimate foundation before Lu Chuan killed him in Dragon Burial Valley. 715 804
- Patriarch — Chu Tiangang, who led the family during its final conflict with Lu Chuan. 767 818
- Supreme Elders — Senior secluded experts including Chu Tiankuang and Chu Tianyin, both Ascended God Seventh Stage cultivators. 718
- Elders — The family’s senior combatants and administrators, including Great Elder Chu Tianhe, Second Elder Chu Tianlei, and Tenth Elder Chu Tiange. 765 787
- Core members — Fewer than one thousand members who formed the family’s actual power structure. 715
- Chu Guards — Elite soldiers forcibly elevated to the Mystic Ascension Realm through Secret Techniques and medicines. They used uniform cultivation methods, Divine Abilities, armor, and battle formations; a force of one thousand was said to be capable of contending with a Nine Realms of God Ascension cultivator. 769
Assets and Resources
- Azure Lightning Sword — A Quasi-Dao Tool once held by Chu Guanyu. It was among the family’s highest-grade resources and a principal reason the family tacitly supported actions against Lu Chuan after he seized it. 653 761
- Damaged Ancient Tower / Spirit Wind Tower — The Old Ancestor’s life-bound Treasure Tool, used to defend against Lu Chuan’s Arrow Rain; Lu Chuan’s attack cracked it severely. 802 803
- Chu Family treasury — A vast cave-like treasure trove protected by a Great Array. It contained twelve Dao Realm treasures on a white-jade rack, along with extensive resources later divided between Lu Chuan and Baili Changkong. 819 820
- Forbidden Land — A secret location known only to true core members. It reportedly held a complete Dao Artifact and was also where Chu Guanyu disappeared. 818 828
- Alchemy Hall — Controlled by Chu Mingshan, the family’s only known high-rank alchemist; his role made him strategically more valuable than many combat-focused elders. 769
Conflict with Lu Chuan
Origins of the Grudge
The family’s conflict with Lu Chuan began through Chu Guanyu. After Lu Chuan crippled her Soul Consciousness and took the Azure Lightning Sword, her mother Su Yilin mobilized Chu Family resources against him with the family’s tacit approval. 652 653 698
The Chu Family later monitored Lu Chuan and was suspected of arranging a mission to Bata Star in hopes that the Blood Race would kill him. Lu Chuan returned alive, confirming the failure of the scheme and alarming the family’s upper echelon. 653 670
Retaliation and Assassinations
After the failed attempt on his life, Lu Chuan began targeting Chu Family core members. His first known target was direct descendant Chu Guanqi on Yunlong Star, whose death was disguised as the work of an Asura Race combatant. 689 699
On Haiyuan Star, Lu Chuan killed eight of the nine Chu Family core members stationed there, leaving only Chu Jinghong untouched because of the protection surrounding the family’s most valued prodigy. 712 714
Lu Chuan’s campaign escalated during the Tianquan Star System war. He assassinated more than fifty core members, including over ten elders, in a single day; subsequent attacks raised the confirmed total of slain core members to more than two hundred. 765 769
The Hunt Order
Great Elder Chu Tianhe recalled family members from their missions and openly ordered a hunt for Lu Chuan. The withdrawal increased the burden on other Human Race forces, creating resentment that the family’s influence suppressed from becoming open opposition. 767
The recall failed to protect the family. Lu Chuan intercepted groups travelling toward Chu Tianhe, including thirteen core members aboard one spaceship and a larger group led by Chu Mingshan and Chu Mingkong. 768 769
Collusion and Internal Crimes
Chu Tianyu, a Chu Family core member and deacon of Xuanhuang Hall, openly betrayed the Human Race at Liuyun City and revealed himself as an Evil God adherent. 704
Investigations later exposed the family’s collusion with Foreign Races and the Worship God Cult, as well as its worship of the Evil God. Chu Tianlei further demonstrated this collusion by ambushing Lu Chuan alongside an Asura King and Worship God Cult believers. 714 788
The Old Ancestor cooperated with the Worship God Cult in Dragon Burial Valley, seeking to seize a mysterious object and claiming that he intended to reshape the Human Race’s order. 802 803
Downfall
Lu Chuan killed Great Elder Chu Tianhe with an arrow after breaking through to the Ninth Divine Treasury. 794
Second Elder Chu Tianlei’s attempt to kill Lu Chuan with the Quasi-Dao Tool Bronze Mirror failed when Lu Chuan destroyed the weapon. Chu Tiangang publicly expelled Chu Tianlei and ordered his death, attempting to distance the family from the failed ambush. 787
The decisive collapse began when Lu Chuan ambushed the Chu Family Old Ancestor in Dragon Burial Valley. After crippling the Old Ancestor’s Damaged Ancient Tower and devastating the combined Chu Family–Worship God Cult force with Arrow Rain, Lu Chuan killed the Old Ancestor with the Epoch Blade. 802 803 804
With the Old Ancestor dead and many core members already lost, Baili Changkong moved to eliminate the family. Lu Chuan infiltrated the Chu Family residence, used the Mysterious Gate of the Female to annihilate most of its core higher-ups, and beheaded Chu Tiangang. 818 819
By the following day, around ninety percent of the Chu Family had been imprisoned or executed. Baili Changkong issued a warrant declaring that the family had colluded with the Worship God Cult, sacrificed to the Evil God, and harmed fellow humans; all remaining members were wanted. 821
