Luo Zheng did not dwell on the question any further and approached the two rows of fencing with the others.
The fences looked ancient, thoroughly rotted from the inside out.
Their surfaces had once borne exquisite carvings, but those, too, had decayed beyond recognition.
Luo Zheng noticed an intact carving near the top of one rail, partially obscured by dust. Just as he reached out to brush the dust away, Fuxi's expression changed beside him. "Luo Zheng, don't touch that fence!"
Luo Zheng's fingers stopped an inch short of the fence. "Why?"
"An ill omen hangs over these fences. Anyone who touches them will never make it out of the Howling Path," Fuxi said with absolute certainty.
"That mysterious?" Luo Zheng raised his eyebrows.
He found Fuxi's words a little hard to believe, but anything could happen on the Other Shore. Perhaps these fences really were connected to the Howling Path.
In the end, Luo Zheng did not touch the fences. Just then, the Heavenly Eye Rock Vine extended a slender tendril and gently touched his forehead, conveying its thoughts to him. "I have brought you here. Can I leave now?"
The Heavenly Eye Rock Vine had been forced to come along by Luo Zheng, who still held its life essence.
Luo Zheng glanced at its enormous eye, then said, "As far as I know, if you turn back here, your only route is the Silent Plank Road. Do you think the other members of the alien race will let you go?"
The Heavenly Eye Rock Vine was itself a member of the alien race. The problem was that, in the eyes of the others, it had already sided with Luo Zheng.
Even under normal circumstances, the Heavenly Eye Rock Vine would struggle to survive alone without the Arrow Goblin
