Heaven Defying Rat King stood at the cave entrance, with an enormous eyeball floating beside him. This was the Heavenly Eye Rock Vine's heavenly eye, which could separate from its vine body when necessary.
Divine sense could no longer probe distant scenes, but the heavenly eye could.
A vine extending from the heavenly eye draped over Heaven Defying Rat King's forehead. Standing at one side of the cave, he had a clear view of the summit.
An hour earlier, Blood Wolf had transformed into a strand of spider silk and silently left the cave. He climbed all the way to the summit, took two living creatures from his Spirit Beast Pouch, and left them there. They were two powerfully built Kuai Oxen.
Although Kuai Oxen were also creatures of the Other Shore, they had little intelligence and no special abilities. Their meat, however, was exceptionally delicious, and Blood Wolf had caught them purely for food.
To prevent the Kuai Oxen from wandering off, Blood Wolf knocked them unconscious and secured them on the summit. He sprinkled ghost medicine powder evenly over one of them until he had coated it into a "white ox," then silently returned to the cave.
Now, through the heavenly eye, Heaven Defying Rat King could see the two motionless Kuai Oxen on the summit, one black and one white.
