Background / History

Ash initially appears with no clear knowledge of his own identity. When Nono Hana asks who he is, he answers that he does not know either, even while transformed as Time Fire 2. He later confirms that he is an interdimensional traveler who has encountered heroes and Pretty Cures across multiple worlds 523.

His System directs him to collect Dark Echo, energy obtained through combat. Battles against villainous organizations provide greater quantities of lower-quality Dark Echo, while battles against heroes provide less but higher-quality energy. Ash is drawn to combat because clashing with opponents lets him experience their emotions and briefly ease the numbness and emptiness in his heart 63. Excessive Dark Echo absorption also worsens his memory loss 169.

Catherine later claims that she created Ash as a crystal and killed his father. Her attempt to control him through telepathy and illusions forces Ash to confront both his origins and his fears 720. The System eventually reveals itself as Histrum: the collective will of victims of evil across infinite worlds, seeking to build a peaceful world where good people can be protected 917.

Appearance

Ash's most consistently described appearances are his armored transformations. In his Time Fire form, he wears a fiery red battle suit with a flame emblem on the chest, red flame-like helmet edges around the goggles, and a silver mouthplate 2.

Personality

Ash is impulsive, competitive, and intensely attracted to strong opponents. He treats combat as both entertainment and emotional connection, seeking the feelings conveyed through exchanged blows rather than victory alone 63. This fixation can make him reckless: he has endangered civilians to provoke Cure Yell and has openly regarded disposable machines as pawns 18.

He is also calculating when it benefits him. Ash refuses to serve as another faction's pawn without compensation, negotiates with villain organizations for access to useful power, and frequently uses provocation to manipulate a battle's flow 69 108 180. His humor is flippant and often deliberately irritating, even in dangerous situations 142 261.

Despite his villainous posturing, Ash repeatedly demonstrates empathy and protectiveness. He saves Yuri from Dark Precure, uses himself as bait to protect the Pretty Cures from Dune, and later accepts responsibility for protecting people whose negative emotions have been stolen 181 273 813. By the end of the S·B·A crisis, he recognizes the importance of bonds, human will, and returning to the people waiting for him 995.
