Shiryu's eyes flickered as his hand rested on the hilt of his weapon. As if relieved, he lowered his hand and maintained his original stance, watching the situation unfold on the street.
"I didn't expect you to be this strong!" Pekoms said to Jazz while holding Rooster Count. He glanced at Shiryu. "We lost today, but remember this—I'll settle this score with you soon!"
Wary of the silent Shiryu standing off to the side, Pekoms decided to retreat first. Even if they had the strength to defeat Jazz, the moment Shiryu intervened, they would have no chance of killing Jazz. Staying would be no different from courting death. So Pekoms first threw out a few harsh words for appearances' sake, essentially saying that he was leaving and Jazz had better not chase after him.
However, Shiryu, who had remained utterly motionless, stepped forward before Jazz could speak.
"When you can win, you push people to the wall, every move aimed to kill. When you can't, you want to spit out threats and run away." Shiryu slowly walked between Pekoms and Jazz, saying coldly, "Do you think the next Alliance Leader of the Star Alliance is so easy to bully?"
The surroundings erupted in commotion. From the looks of it, Shiryu clearly had no intention of letting the BIGMOM Pirates go.
Jazz was somewhat surprised. Shiryu had shown no intention of acting just now, yet he had stepped forward on his own initiative and invoked Jazz's name. Was this his way of showing that he had completely submitted to the will of the Star Alliance?
"Y-You're going too far!" Pekoms was horrified when he saw that Shiryu intended to keep them there.
"Aren't the BIGMOM Pirates the ones who are arrogant and overbearing?" Shiryu sneered as he slowly drew his blade.
