But when Rebecca actually saw the mermaid princess, she finally broke free from the tangled emotions that had nearly driven her mad. The mermaid princess was indeed beautiful, but with such an enormous body, there was absolutely no possibility of anything happening between her and Ronglin. Rebecca was deeply ashamed for a time. She had actually let jealousy cloud her reason, and she felt terribly embarrassed.
So she reined in her emotions and diligently did what she was supposed to do every day, while constantly asking about Ronglin and seeking an audience with him.
Seeing his daughter so utterly infatuated with a man that she was nearly losing her mind, one could imagine Kyros's torment. Yet this brave and steadfast man could find no way to solve the problem. All he could do was suffer alongside her and feel heartbroken.
Today, Rebecca finally received word that the Alliance Leader was discussing matters in the palace. If she wanted to see him, she only needed to wait in the palace's council hall.
Excited, Rebecca immediately dressed and made herself up. Only after repeatedly examining her appearance in the mirror to ensure she looked her very best did she force down her excitement and gracefully set out to find Ronglin.
Ronglin stepped out of the room and saw Rebecca walking slowly toward the council hall along the palace avenue in the distance. Kyros followed behind her with a grave expression, looking extremely nervous.
Ronglin smiled faintly to himself. That iron-willed man was now missing a leg. If he got the chance, he would send someone to find the Surgeon of Death—Trafalgar Law—and discuss getting Kyros a new leg.
Otherwise, watching Kyros run around on one leg was really painful.
