Just minutes after Chaton turned back, the assassin finally succumbed. Shiryu severely wounded him, knocking him unconscious on the spot, then dragged him back toward the lord's residence.
Before long, numerous guards rushed out and began searching a wide area, clearing out any assassins who might be lurking nearby. One Image Bug after another placed by CP0 was snuffed out.
"Seriously?" Chaton said in disbelief. "Ronglin was really injured?"
Bony-Sen paced back and forth atop the conference table, but he had become hesitant instead. "Logically, someone as fond of showing off as Ronglin should have displayed his Conqueror's Haki to intimidate them, or instantly turned the tables and captured all the assassins. Yet he just sat there smiling without moving at all. The bodyguards pursuing them were flustered and repeatedly made mistakes, while one of them stayed by Ronglin's side every step of the way. Trafalgar Law's positioning was interesting as well. These tiny details all subtly suggest that Ronglin may be so badly injured that even making a move is extremely difficult for him now."
Chaton was equally shocked. "Could this really be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity? Could we be about to capture a notorious criminal who once shook the world?"
Bony-Sen thought the same, but a cloud still hung over his heart, refusing to disperse.
The time had come to take a risk, yet Bony-Sen became more patient instead and did not act rashly. "Pass down the order. Stay in position everywhere and continue surveillance."
Chaton had originally assumed Bony-Sen would definitely make a move. Their opponent was Ronglin, a man capable of defeating even the Four Emperors. Chaton had not dared let down his guard and was already adjusting his condition, ready to enter the fight himself. Yet in the end, Bony-Sen chose to remain on standby.
