With a muffled, low roar, long, slender, spear-like legs stretched out from the pit one after another. A monster with a spider's body and a strange masked head slowly crawled out, glaring at Ronglin with deep hostility and a hint of greed in its eyes.
"Huh? This mask looks familiar." Ronglin looked at the monster's white mask and spoke in surprise.
Roar!
The monster let out a howl, raising its sixteen spear-like legs. Its enormous body rose upright before it burst forth with astonishing leaping power, soaring high into the air and stabbing down at Ronglin's head.
The instant the monster took flight, Ronglin caught sight of a massive hole in its abdomen. It looked as though it had formed naturally, piercing straight through the monster's body from front to back, yet it had no effect on the creature itself.
"This is... a Hollow?" A thunderclap exploded in Ronglin's mind. I actually crossed over into the Shinigami World?
Though shocked, Ronglin did not slacken his movements in the slightest. His hands rapidly formed seals, then he sidestepped, dodging the monster's piercing strike. He raised one hand, and lightning blazed in his palm.

A bolt of lightning shot violently into the sky, turning into a chain of crackling light that lashed out and instantly wrapped around the monster. The lightning's immense paralysis and burning power ignited the monster's entire body in blue flames. It had no chance to resist and was killed by Ronglin in the blink of an eye.
"Seriously?" Ronglin had not been sure whether Haki would work on Hollows, so he had used ninjutsu to launch an elemental attack and incinerate the monster. What surprised him now, however, was why his attempt to cross back had failed.
