Although the three people involved had never said anything, that did not stop everyone from hearing a few rumors in private. For example, after Sarutobi Asuma and Hyuga Tianlin returned home that day, they had apparently been beaten badly, their faces bruised and swollen. They spent several days recovering at home, too embarrassed to come to school.

Ronglin's casual answer now made everyone realize that those two idiots had been asking for a beating. But Ronglin was really impressive. Gradually, the way everyone looked at him began to change—something that had never happened before.

This also brought the two of them much closer.

"Uchiha Ronglin, bye! You're really interesting. I never noticed it before. I hope we'll have another chance to hang out together."

Before they parted, Kurenai Yuhi smiled and waved. Ronglin smiled and nodded. "Of course there'll be a chance. As long as you don't find me annoying, I'll come find you."

"That's great! I'll remember what you said. If you don't follow through, hmph hmph~~"

Hearing that, Kurenai Yuhi happily narrowed her eyes and raised her little fist in an adorable threat, making Ronglin unable to stop himself from laughing.

It was clear that Kurenai Yuhi had a good impression of Ronglin. Otherwise, she would not have taken the initiative to suggest hanging out again, much less been so happy when he agreed.

Watching Kurenai Yuhi leave, Ronglin's lips curled up slightly.

Asuma, I wonder if you'll be hopping mad. I'm really looking forward to it!

Though he had the mindset of an adult, that did not mean Ronglin would never do anything childish—especially if it could annoy someone he disliked. Why not?

A distracted Ronglin suddenly bumped into someone. What shocked him was that he had bumped into a woman—and a very strong woman at that. Otherwise, she would not have sent him straight to the ground.

As for how he immediately knew the other person was a woman, that was simple: the softness his head had collided with, along with a faint, pleasant fragrance.

A pile of bread and other things fell to the ground as well, followed by a startled cry.

"Ah, are you okay? Sorry, I wasn't paying attention. I'm so sorry."

The first thing that entered his view was red hair.

Kushina Uzumaki!

That name quickly surfaced in his mind. There was only one person in all of Konoha with long red hair: the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki—Kushina Uzumaki, Minato Namikaze's girlfriend, the Little Pepper people spoke of.

Red hair was a trait of the Uzumaki Clan. Unfortunately, the once-prosperous Uzumaki Clan had been wiped out. The reason was unknown, but it was undoubtedly connected to the tailed beasts. One could tell from the fact that someone had once infiltrated Konoha in an attempt to forcibly take Kushina away.

"It's fine. Hello, Kushina."

Climbing to his feet, Ronglin dusted himself off. He had not expected to meet Kushina this way.

"Um, I was spacing out, so sorry. I'm sorry."

Kushina apologized as she picked up the bread from the ground. Ronglin smiled. "I was a little distracted too, so we're about even."
