"Every last one of you, behave yourselves. If any of you dare to make trouble, I'll skin you alive!!" Ronglin pointed at them and scolded with a grin.
"Remember this: don't think charging into the front lines is some great thrill. You're all idiots. In a war like this, where are you going to claim rewards for your merits?"
"Cough, cough!!"
Tsunade coughed and hurriedly tugged at Ronglin. He couldn't just say things like that carelessly, or it would be troublesome if someone overheard.
Ronglin paid it no mind and nodded at Tsunade, telling her not to worry. He knew what he could and could not say.
"Uh..."
Ronglin's words immediately left Konoha's indignant crowd stunned. They looked at one another, feeling that he seemed to have a tiny bit of a point.
Fighting for the village earned merits for killing enemies, and completing missions earned merits too. But with the four nations joining forces, how would the final tally be calculated?
If they fought desperately only to get absolutely nothing in return, that would truly leave them wanting to cry without tears.
"This war is something we can fight or not fight, so stop thinking about rushing to the front lines to snatch credit and then coming to trade it with me for good things. Do you think the things in my hands are so easy to exchange for?"
Ronglin even joked about it. Of course, he would not actually be so stingy as to deny everyone any merits. He simply wanted to bring it up after the war, when it could give everyone a surprise.
For now, though, it was best to leave it at that, lest everyone feel it was too much of a pity that they could not go to the front lines.
