Background / History

The Xiao Family is the surviving Wutan City branch of the ancient Xiao Clan, a clan that once produced a Dou Di. The Xiao Clan’s Dou Di Bloodline was exhausted over generations, and the clan later fell after Xiao Xuan’s defeat by the Soul Clan. A surviving branch was escorted to the Northwest Continent by a Xiao Clan Dou Sheng, where it gradually declined. 5 57

Before its resurgence, the family had lost much of its inheritance during its retreat from the Imperial Capital. Its strongest remaining members were eventually reduced to a handful of Da Dou Shi, while former Xiao Clan techniques and estates were seized by hostile forces. 49 437

Xiao Yan’s fortuitous encounter changed the family’s trajectory. Using pills, cultivation resources, intelligence from the Shadow Guard, and opportunities from the Profound Sky Continent, he rapidly strengthened the elders and positioned himself above them in the family hierarchy as Young Clan Leader. 1

The family’s first major public confrontation came when Nalan Yanran and Misty Cloud Sect steward Ge Ye arrived to dissolve her engagement to Xiao Yan. Rather than submit, Xiao Zhan and the Three Elders opposed the demand, protecting the family’s dignity and exposing their greatly improved cultivation. 2 3 4

Through alliances with the Lin Family, Mite’er Family, Hai Bodong, guardian magical beasts, and later numerous outer forces, the family expanded beyond Wutan City.
