Chapter 6: Two Wands
Just as Brook hesitated about whether to go back and ask Ollivander for help, two wand boxes not far in front of him suddenly emitted a soft glow.
He understood immediately and took them from the shelf.
He noticed that one of the wand boxes was made of a different material than the other boxes on the shelf. The others were ordinary cardboard boxes, but this one was an exquisite wooden box.
At the same time, two clear system prompts sounded in his mind.
He had completed the quests "[Choose a Wand Independently]" and "[Obtain More Than One Wand from Ollivander's Wand Shop]". He had earned two lottery chances. This trip to Diagon Alley had already earned him five lottery chances. If it weren't for Dumbledore's presence, making it inconvenient to farm, he would have definitely done a ten-pull tonight.
After Brook returned with the wands, the other three people's gazes immediately focused on the boxes in his hands. Especially Ollivander, whose eyes flashed with surprise when he saw the wooden wand box.
"Why did you choose this one?"
"You mean this one? I felt a connection with it," Brook said, gently shaking the wooden box.
"Brook, try it quickly," Hermione said, curious but more worried. Being so intelligent, she had naturally understood the debate between Brook and Ollivander. Although Brook had the upper hand in words, he was certainly not as professional as Ollivander when it came to choosing a wand. She was afraid the wand Brook had chosen wouldn't be suitable.
Brook shrugged. Although the system's interface was very rudimentary, the fact that it could get him the Door-Door Fruit was enough to prove its capabilities. Therefore, he was very confident in the wand the system had chosen. However, since Hermione had spoken, he still had to show it.
He first took out the wand from the cardboard box. The wand was of moderate thickness and felt smooth. The key point was that it was long enough (emphasized). As he flicked his wrist, the entire shop filled with a soft red light.
"Yew, Dragon Heartstring, 13 and 3/4 inches, reasonably springy."
Ollivander's eyes were filled with complexity. "I didn't expect it would choose... you would choose it."
"Is there a problem?"
"I made two wands from the piece of yew I had at the time. One is the one in your hand, and the other..." Ollivander glanced at Dumbledore.
"Yew is also known as the 'Tree of Immortality', and legend says it can control life and death."
"Control life and death with a wand? I might as well get a yew tree and keep it by my side," Brook said, completely disbelieving such legends. Yew trees were common. If they truly possessed the ability to control life and death, they would have become rare species and been hidden long ago.
"Try your other one. It's not my work," Ollivander said, not continuing the previous topic. Or rather, Dumbledore didn't want him to continue it.
Brook opened the wooden box. Without Ollivander explaining, he could tell at a glance that this wand was not Ollivander's work. It was less like a wand and more like a slender, miniature sword. The handle was carved with intricate patterns. Brook didn't recognize them, but a part of them resembled auspicious cloud patterns from Great Xia, making him feel a sense of familiarity.
As soon as he grasped the handle, the wand trembled slightly. Suddenly, a stinging pain shot through his palm, and blood seeped from it. Brook didn't show it, just held the handle quietly.
The wand emitted a layer of lightning after absorbing his blood, then returned to calm.
He immediately felt an indescribable connection established with the wand, as if it had become a part of his body.
"Huanghuali, Zouwu whisker, 14 inches, moderately elastic."
Ollivander explained slowly.
"About a hundred years ago, I met a Taoist priest from the East.
This wand was his creation, left behind when he shared his insights on wandmaking with me.
I kept it in the shop as a memento, never expecting you to choose it."
He also breathed a sigh of relief.
The wand Brook chose didn't look like a wand at all.

Even if he used them simultaneously, others wouldn't suspect he got them from me.
This undoubtedly saved a lot of trouble.
Brook swung it lightly, a motion somewhat like a chop.
It felt quite handy, just a bit small.
"Brook, it's best not to mention to outsiders that you got two wands from Ollivander,"
Dumbledore reminded him, his tone carrying a hint of seriousness.
Brook nodded.
He understood the principle of making a fortune in silence.
He got it (~ ̄▽ ̄)~.
Hermione also quickly promised to keep it a secret.
Although Brook had successfully persuaded Ollivander, he had clearly broken the rules.
It was better for fewer people to know about such things.
"Alright, it's getting late, we should be going back," Dumbledore said.
Brook and Hermione each paid seven Gold Galleons for their wands.
Ollivander saw them out of the shop, his gaze following Brook's retreating figure.
Only when his figure had completely disappeared did he return to the shop.
Two wands.
One made of the same Yew as the person whose name could not be mentioned.
The other, however, was from the hand of an Eastern Taoist.
He truly wondered what kind of storm the person who had earned the recognition of these two wands would stir up in the wizarding world in the future.
On the way back, Dumbledore detailed to Brook and Hermione the precautions for passing through Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.
Their train tickets would be delivered by owl in a few days.
Brook had expected Dumbledore to leave immediately after escorting them home.
He hadn't expected him to follow him inside the house.
"Headmaster, is there anything else?"
"This is for you," Dumbledore took a book from his pocket and placed it on the table.
Brook could tell from its thickness that it was the same book Dumbledore had bought at the bookstore.
When he saw the title, his face gradually turned red.
You old rascal!
Enough already!
Can't you let it go?
The title of the book was none other than Wizengamot Charter and Related Laws.
"Reading it will do you good, especially the content on pages 317 and 516."
Dumbledore looked at Brook with his clear blue eyes, earnestly.
"Okay," Brook forced a smile.
"See you at Hogwarts."
Dumbledore drew his wand, gave a gentle wave, and vanished from the spot.
Is Brook the kind of person who would read this book?
He really is.
The outlaw Zhang San once said:
If he wants to commit a crime, no one can stop him, because no one understands the law better than he does.
Brook flipped through the two pages Dumbledore mentioned.
The content involved the International Statute of Secrecy and clauses regarding reasonable restrictions on underage wizards.
It was then he realized he had accidentally exploited a loophole.
His act of robbing the bank undoubtedly violated the laws of the Muggle world.
However, as a wizard, his case had to be handled by the Ministry of Magic.
Under the wizarding legal system, he had violated the International Statute of Secrecy and the prohibition against underage wizards casting spells without permission.
But there was a crucial prerequisite: at the time of his crime, he did not know he was a wizard.
According to the Underage Wizard Protection Act.
If a young wizard, unaware of their identity, caused harm to the outside world using magic.
If no one's life was endangered, the punishment could be lenient, or even waived.
This meant that even if Dumbledore caught him, he would ultimately have to let him go.
And as long as he insisted he didn't know the whereabouts of the Gold Galleons, he wouldn't even have to return them.
"Dumbledore set me up," Brook gritted his teeth.
The decadent life he could have enjoyed was postponed by seven years.
He remembered this debt.
He would repay it.
