Angel was baffled too. Why him?
Why had he become the crucial key in such an important choice, one that would clearly alter another's path?
Had Feng seen it through prophecy? Or was it that, in the wilderness of time, neither too early nor too late, he had simply arrived at precisely the right moment?
Angel told Night about his doubts.
But Night's answer left him even more confused. "The one who came to find me might have been anyone. Or perhaps it could only have been you."
To Night, it did not matter who came looking for him. What mattered was the timing. Perhaps Feng truly had foreseen that he would meet this human now. Or perhaps Feng had merely placed a restriction upon him. But no matter what, Night only needed to know one thing: the time had come. All other details were merely prerequisites for that conclusion. They mattered greatly in the moment, but once the moment had passed, they became dispensable.
Still, if Night had to answer Angel's question, he personally leaned more toward the notion that this had long been destined. In other words, Feng might have foreseen the present through some method.
The timing was simply too perfect. Night's strength had happened to be stalled at its most crucial step; one step further, and he would enter the rank of Demon Lord. He had also happened to complete the final step of self-control. Now, aside from the limitation of energy, the only thing shackling his advance was... this painting.
The energy limitation could be resolved. But without Angel bringing it here, the night within the painting might never have been able to obscure the flames.
Such a coincidental moment, such a coincidental meeting—naturally, Night believed that Angel had been destined to find him.
