"Sparrow Sparrow?" Angel froze. Though the other party had spoken in Demon Tongue, a petite figure whose features he could not make out inexplicably flashed through his mind. Yet it was only a fleeting spark of inspiration. When he tried to seize it and think it over carefully, he could no longer recall what he had been thinking.
Was Sparrow Sparrow a name, or some kind of exclamation?
Angel temporarily suppressed the sudden doubts in his heart and controlled the scouting puppet, stealthily probing toward the mountain wall to one side. He slowly shifted its viewpoint toward the furnace.
He wanted to see what exactly had happened.
From the sound of it, his earlier guess seemed to have been wrong. This was not a battle between humans and demons, but an internal conflict among demons—had one demon slaughtered all the others of its kind?
With that question in mind, Angel turned his gaze over—
"Rebirth? Devoured by that insatiable old fellow, and you still want to be reborn? Impossible! Yi hahahaha... Be good and become the kindling that rekindles our race!"
As Angel shifted the viewpoint, the first thing he saw was a demon pressing a hand to his own face and throwing his head back in wild laughter.
Flames flickered all over the demon's body. Red light seemed to flash across his hand, snakelike yet ribbonlike.
After the red light flashed, another demon behind the furnace immediately let out a scream of unbearable agony. Angel's viewpoint could not see the other demon's condition, and he had no idea what had happened. He tried to adjust his position, wanting to move to the other side and see clearly.
As he shifted positions, the range of Angel's view gradually widened.
He watched the demon standing beside the furnace, still laughing arrogantly.
