"Not necessarily. Perhaps he noticed something amiss from your earlier actions." Fafnir turned her head and gazed steadily at Angel. "For instance, you paid close attention to that man who used illusion."
Angel fell silent.
He had once read detective novels written by mortals. When a remarkably perceptive detective wanted to dissect someone, every suspicious move, abnormal behavior, even the tiniest detail, could become part of the detective's profile of them.
Although Angel had never met Lord Monchi, the attitudes of those around him, along with the identical full, rounded aura surrounding the masked man and Rhein, all pointed to his identity. He was Monchi.
And a wizard standing at the pinnacle of the Southern Region would certainly possess insight far keener than that of a mortal detective.
Perhaps Monchi had deliberately allowed Fafnir's strand of wind to spy from nearby because he wanted to use it to observe who stood behind that wind, and what its true purpose was.
As Angel thought of this, he understood Fafnir's meaning. Yet faced with Fafnir's gaze, he put on an innocent expression. "Were my actions abnormal? Lord Fafnir, you controlled where the wind went. I can't control the wind."
"You truly cannot control the wind, but you can control your gaze." Fafnir left it at that and did not dwell on Monchi. Instead, she changed the subject. "You use illusion, and that man uses illusion too. It seems you know him?"
Not only had Fafnir taken note of Angel's earlier emotions; even Canaan had seen them. So Angel knew he could not deny it.
But on second thought, there was nothing to hide.
Still, Angel turned his head and looked at Canaan on the other side of the illusion... Canaan immediately caught on and began humming along with the eerie music within
