Ahead lay a pitch-black expanse where nothing could be seen.
But just then, Wodell lightly tossed the oil lamp he held in his hand.
The lamp landed steadily in the very center of a small mountain piled from white bones. By its dim yellow light, they could vaguely make out a towering throne not far away.
This was the Land of Darkness? A mountain of bones, and a decrepit throne?
Just as Angel was wondering, Wodell lightly tapped the void with his bone staff. A cold wind swept past, carrying the lamp's flame into the distance.
The drifting firelight swept across the sky, scorching a hole through the darkness.
As the light flew away, Angel vaguely glimpsed the outlines of what seemed to be artificial structures within the deeper darkness.
While he was still puzzled, the dim flame, which had seemed to flicker uncertainly, suddenly blazed with brilliance. Like a sun, it illuminated an entire region of darkness!
The light drove away the profound darkness, revealing before them a magnificent city that made everyone leap in shock!
This city resembled some of the towns they had seen outside, but the buildings here were not ruined. Dense, layered high-rises stood packed together; the streets were narrow, yet their paving stones lay smooth and level. Lifelike statues stood along every street, their carved patterns colored in all manner of hues. There were also primitive towers and towering city walls that seemed to stretch into the darkness itself!
This city was heaped with snowy white bones! Countless undead flitted between its towering buildings!
Yet even that was not enough to call it "magnificent." What truly shook Angel was the sky above the city!
Suspended in midair was a grand and unimaginably colossal—gate of white bones!
