This was a lush forest rarely seen in the Abyss. The tree trunks twisted into bizarre shapes, and dark green leaves trembled precariously upon gnarled branches.
Together with the gloomy sky, the forest looked like some haunted woodland from a human script, lurking with strange people and terrifying Demonic Beasts.
At that moment, for some unknown reason, great quantities of gray mist suddenly began spreading from the heart of the forest.
Not far from the gray mist, two Dark Demon Butterflies beat their wings, scattering vast amounts of highly toxic dust that resembled a colorful starry sky.
The sudden gray mist spread rapidly, catching the Dark Demon Butterflies unprepared and engulfing them within it.
The Dark Demon Butterflies trapped in the mist had still been fluttering at first, but before long, they swayed and fell to the ground. Their life force was gone—they were dead beyond dead.
The Dark Demon Butterflies were not the only ones unfortunate enough to be caught up in the gray mist. The nearby trees, flowers, and grass also underwent drastic changes within it.
The trunks withered in an instant, the dark green leaves shriveled, and the foul-smelling flowers and grass drooped limply onto the ground.
Even the once fairly fertile soil quietly turned barren without anyone noticing.
The gray mist spread for roughly half a minute. As several black figures appeared in the forest without warning, the source of the gray mist closed as well.
"Shopkeeper, the earth has changed. I can sense a trace of moisture in the ground! We should have reached our destination, right?"
The one speaking was Grewu, who had just left the Yuantan Continent.
Angel nodded. Though they were still surrounded by the aura of death, the feeling in his heart of being intimately connected to the earth had vanished.
