Later, however, while at Savage Cave, Madeleine had secretly pursued Dongla, who had been afflicted by the Calamity Curse, and then vanished without a trace.
Angel had never expected that, after their parting, he would reunite with Madeleine here and now.
Madeleine was furiously chasing Grewu. The thorn whip blazing with flames in her hand had already been raised high into the sky, but when she saw the person standing before that little demon, she froze.

After a while, on the high ground outside Ice Valley, Angel omitted certain key details and merely said that Toby had accidentally fallen victim to the Calamity Curse, so he had come to Ice Valley to seek Odecras's help in lifting it.
Madeleine had not been involved in the events at Lasudelan, so she did not know what had happened there. She even thought Monchi's plan had yet to be put into action.
