The effects of Fire Containment were exactly as they had previously guessed. Once the stability of the magic patterns was disrupted, it would instantly unleash an intense blaze, destroying itself and exploding in the process.
Because it left no trace and was extremely well concealed, its usual purpose was to serve as bait.
But this suitcase had been buried beneath a tree by Fullington. If Fullington himself had not come to dig it up, no one would ever have discovered it. Calling it bait was out of the question.
Since it was not bait, then Fire Containment must have been meant to protect the secret within.
"Can we bypass Fire Containment and open this suitcase?" Xius asked urgently. So long as Yurika had not recovered, his heart remained in a state of constant torment.
"Bypassing Fire Containment is impossible. But if we destroy the self-destruct portion of the Advanced Incineration Pattern within this magical energy array, while modifying several of the intermediary patterns to keep the Energy-Sealing Rune and Spirit-Sealing Rune in relative balance, we should be able to open the suitcase safely."
Angel extended a finger and traced a red line of light across the suitcase. The line was crooked and uneven, not a flat magic pattern. Most of it was three-dimensional, overlapping with the Advanced Incineration Pattern while remaining completely detached from the other two patterns.
"Release destructive energy along this red trail. If you destroy the interior in a single instant, you can completely prevent the Advanced Incineration Pattern from self-destructing." Angel paused. "At the same time, I'll need to modify the patterns and maintain the balance between the other two magic patterns."
In other words, it required two people to act at once.
It sounded simple, but carrying it out required extraordinarily delicate and ingenious manipulation.
