"I just find it strange." Alex lowered his head and murmured softly.

"What is strange?"

Alex did not answer. Instead, he stared at the words on the paper, his gaze flickering slightly, as though he could see something beyond their surface.

Seeing Alex remain silent, Angel did not press him further and changed the subject instead. "You do not care at all why they die once they leave Gust Town? And you are not curious what exactly lies outside Gust Town?"

Alex was silent for a long while before slowly saying, "I am not curious about what lies outside Gust Town. Compared to that, I am more curious about..."

Alex raised his head and looked toward the pitch-black ceiling of the confessional, as though he saw an imprisoned cage. Yet his gaze never lingered on the cage, instead looking toward the deeper void beyond.

"This world."

Angel walked out of Kruya Church. He had not obtained much information from Alex. Alex had spent his entire life in the church and had not even truly explored all of Gust Town, much less anywhere else. The records only contained some matters concerning the Holy City; everything else was vague.

Thus, Angel temporarily left the church, intending to take a look outside for himself.

Gust Town's style was actually quite close to Gelu Town's. Though it was not large, it had mountains, fields, and a stream flowing through it, enough for complete self-sufficiency.

Most of the town's buildings were wooden. Perhaps the residents here did not care much for maintenance, because many of the wooden walls bore mottled marks—some from insects, others from dampness.
