Frod lightly tapped his fingers on the tabletop, his gaze somewhat grave.
It had been nearly three days, yet no news had come from Angel's side. He had no idea how things were going.
Frod was a little worried. Could some accident have happened?
"My lord? Lord Tisen?"
Frod snapped out of his thoughts and saw that an exceptionally beautiful woman had appeared beside him. She looked to be around thirty. Fine lines had begun to form at the corners of her eyes, yet they only added to her charm. She wore a long golden dress embroidered with dark red roses and deep green vines, along with a red crown inlaid with gold. She looked elegant and regal.
Frod pressed his fingers to his brow, revealing an apologetic expression. "So it's Meng Lu. When did you arrive? I was thinking about something just now and didn't notice."
The newcomer was none other than Meng Lu, the city lord of Firstheart City.
"I only just arrived as well. Lord Tisen, is something weighing on your mind?" As Meng Lu spoke, her gaze unconsciously drifted to the other side of the room. A vertical pod had been added there, covered by a layer of black cloth, making it impossible to tell what was inside.
"It's nothing." Frod sidestepped the subject. "I called you here this time because..."
Frod stopped halfway through his sentence. He had noticed that Meng Lu was not looking at him, but at the glass pod beside them.
"You're very interested in it?"
Frod's sudden question pulled Meng Lu's gaze back. A trace of embarrassment flashed over her face, and she lowered her head. "I'm not curious, it's just..."
"You don't need to hide what you're thinking. If you're curious, you can lift it and take a look," Frod
