The bonfire in the courtyard was still blazing fiercely. Shan lay draped over Ganke's shoulder, directing him to keep turning the honey-oil-dripping meat roasting over the flames.

Before long, a rich aroma of meat wafted through the air.

Shan took a few sniffs. Once she was sure it was done, she handed the roast to Angel with a bashful look. "This is for you."

Seeing Angel accept it, Shan smiled in satisfaction. But when she turned around, she found Alan, the chubby boy sitting opposite Angel, staring blankly at the roast in Angel's hands.

After hesitating, Shan unhappily took a bone-in piece of roast from the grill and handed it to Alan. "Don't covet what's in someone else's mouth... Since you're Angel's friend, you can have this roast."

Alan hesitated for a moment before taking the meat from Shan. After wavering for quite a while, he finally bit into it.
