When he entered the ruin's corridor again, it was still pitch-black, the road ahead invisible.

Although Angel could see in the dark, the long stretch of darkness still bred a sense of unease.

He remembered Tree Spirit seeming to mention before that there were candle sconces on the walls... Angel slowly turned his gaze toward the walls and, sure enough, saw wall-mounted candleholders enclosed by black grilles.

In the darkness, a faint glimmer shone from Angel's eyes, and a flame ignited within the candleholder.

When the first flame lit up, it was as though some marvelous mechanism had been activated. Immediately afterward, every candleholder in the corridor lit up. One stood every five meters, illuminating the way all the way into the depths of the corridor.

"A linked mechanism?" Angel muttered under his breath. Without dwelling on it, he started forward.

After walking roughly a hundred steps, Angel's brows furrowed slightly. He had not noticed it before, but once he truly entered the corridor, he sensed something amiss.

The direction of the airflow was wrong.

Angel was highly sensitive to changes in his surroundings. Before stepping into the corridor, he had not sensed any airflow ahead. Yet as he walked forward, it was as though a wind vent had appeared deep within the corridor, slowly blowing a breeze toward him.

Though the wind was not strong, it created the illusion that the exit lay ahead.

Although Angel found it somewhat strange, he did not stop. Instead, he quickened his pace. In his view, whether it was an illusion or not would become clear if he kept going.
