The sound of pages turning echoed again and again through the quiet room. Angel's brows, relaxed at first, gradually drew into a deep frown.
He had already turned through ten pages, all of them filled with inexplicable columns of data. Angel recognized some of the arcane energy formulas used within, but recognizing the formulas did not mean he could reverse-engineer them from the data.
Even if he truly could reverse-engineer them, he would at least need a complete chain of data. The data in the notebook was logically fractured, with no connection whatsoever. Angel could not possibly tell what Tizhalo had written from this alone.
It was like knowing that someone was named Link, then trying to deduce, without any other clue, whether it had been windy on the day his childhood sweetheart and sworn nemesis was born.
Was that possible?
Perhaps others had ways to deduce it, but Angel could not.
Among the pages he had read so far, the only things Angel recognized were several lines Tizhalo occasionally wrote down. Their meaning was simple as well: Experiment No. 98, Experiment No. 99... Experiment No. 102...
From Tizhalo's records, it was clear that this data should have been used in his experiments. Angel simply did not know what kind of experiment Tizhalo was conducting... nor was he particularly interested.
What Angel needed most right now was to consolidate himself. Once that was done, he still had to study the knowledge of formal wizards, practice various spells, research and analyze the Green Pattern, handle the alchemical experiments required by the Research Institute, and so on... not to mention the development of the Dream Wilderness. Those matters alone were enough to keep him busy. He truly had little interest in other people's experiments.
The main reason he was reading this notebook
