Angel stepped back into reality from the Dream Bridge.
Before Angel had even opened his eyes, he vaguely saw a dark shadow before him. His heart clenched, and he jolted awake, sitting upright.
As his dilated pupils slowly calmed, Angel finally noticed that the shadow he had seen was the knight's armor he had brought back earlier.
"Thought someone had broken in..." Angel muttered, straightening up in his chair.
He had originally intended to continue studying the Green Pattern on his right forearm and settle himself once he returned to reality. But after being startled by the knight's armor, his gaze kept drifting back to it from time to time.
"Should I study it?" Angel thought it over. He had plenty of time now anyway; changing his mental environment might even help with his research into the Green Pattern.
With that thought, Angel focused on the magic patterns on the armor's breastplate.
More than twenty fragments of damaged magic patterns were gathered here. Angel planned to pick one at random and study it.
The hands of the grandfather clock gave off soft ticking sounds without pause, circling round and round.
About ten hours later, Angel finally pulled his attention away from the draft paper before him.
Looking at the densely written sheets, Angel felt as though his head were swelling. The reason he had suddenly stopped was not because his research was complete, but simply because... he could not continue.
Over the previous ten hours, Angel had done only one thing: repair damaged magic patterns.
He had guessed that if all these damaged magic patterns were restored, they might form a magical energy array. So he had randomly selected one fragment and begun repairing it, intending to restore it into a complete magic pattern.
It sounded easy enough in theory,
