On the top floor of the most dilapidated building in the orphanage, inside the director's office saturated with deathly qi.
Angel and Frod stood by the window, gazing at the only lit room in the building opposite. It had once been the orphanage library, housing a vast collection of fairy tales and picture books gathered by the Thissen Family. But after the orphanage was abandoned, all those books had gone up in flames.
The reason there was still light there now was that it had temporarily been turned into a soul-related library.
Angel had used illusions to manifest the soul-related magazines, parchment scrolls, and foundational soul training methods he had read, placing them throughout the library.
"How long has Little Saim been in there?" Angel asked softly.
Frod said, "Ever since Little Saim discovered that library two days ago, he has stayed inside without coming out."
After speaking, Frod wore a puzzled expression. "Why did you place those soul-related books there, sir?"
"They were put there for him to read." Angel looked toward the figure reflected in the lit window across from them.
"If they were for Little Saim, why not tell him about the books from the start? Why let him discover the library while wandering around on his own?" Frod still did not understand.
"The gains from initiative and passive acceptance are entirely different." Angel paused. "Besides, this concerns an apprenticeship test."
"An apprenticeship test?"
"Nis intends to take Little Saim as his apprentice. Before Little Saim truly enters Savage Cave, he asked me to prepare this test." Angel explained.
Only then did Frod understand. This so-called apprenticeship test was in fact much like the trials a guide set for those with talent.
