Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle—
A huge fireball emerged before Angel. It looked somewhat unstable, swelling and contracting by turns, all the while emitting incessant sizzling sounds.
This fireball was not an elemental lifeform. It was merely the manifestation of the level-0 cantrip, Candlefire Technique.
Outside, Candlefire Technique was no more than a tiny flame at one's fingertip, generally only useful for setting waste paper alight or lighting an oil lamp. Yet the Candlefire Technique Angel had summoned here had directly become an unstable giant fireball.
Angel examined the fireball's inner structure. It was indeed the essence of Candlefire Technique, but bolstered by the surrounding fire energy, concentrated to an extreme, it had taken on its present form.
The structure of Candlefire Technique itself could only accommodate the volume of a small flame. Now that it had expanded so many times over, it naturally became unstable.
Yet precisely because it was unstable, if this fireball exploded, its attack level would absolutely exceed the standard of a level-2 cantrip.
Angel waved his hand, and the fireball before him turned into pure fire energy, merging into the surrounding environment.
Watching specks of sparks drift farther and farther away, Angel fell into thought as well. He had summoned Candlefire Technique simply to verify the density of the fire elemental power around him.
Along the way, he had used Candlefire Technique no fewer than four times. The previous few times, it had elevated a level-0 cantrip to the degree of a level-1 cantrip. But this time, it had forcefully raised a level-0 cantrip all the way to the level of a level-2 cantrip. The fire elemental power here was clearly even denser than before.
That also indicated one thing: he was gradually approaching the center of this land of fire.
"Could the place where the fire
